others can prob chime in on their experience, but deposit seems to be what’s happening the past couple months due to the shortage happening and it’s a way for you to at least have a car reserved for you once it goes into production

from what i’ve been told, the 4-6 months is normal but i thought LR and pros weren’t being put into order anymore, but i could be wrong

Yeah I keep reading that on a lot of other threads too but then I see people still placing orders for them.

Not placing orders. People are putting deposits on allocations the dealers are getting. If they don’t already have one allocated chances are very slim at this point.

That’s what I’ve gathered and that is why I asked the dealership about the 4-6 month timeframe as I’m sure Toyota would stop producing 21’s before then. Of course they tried telling me that it would still be a 21.
Wondering if at this point it would smarter to just wait for a 2022 and see if they’ll still honor the MSRP pricing?

I wonder if they will be looking to do a dealer trade with someone else who already has one or has one coming in, but is not spoken for already.

That would explain the "additional add ons" comment.

The timeline doesn't make a ton of sense to me.

If it's a refundable deposit, I'd still give it a shot if you really want a PRO.

Or just wait for a 2022 Lunar Rock OffRoad.

Well after giving it some more thought I have placed a deposit for a 2021 Lunar Rock Pro. The deposit is refundable and was able to get MSRP pricing. Too good of an opportunity to pass up, so I’m hoping I can get one of the last Pro’s in this awesome color. I’ll try to post updates as they come in.

    Thanks all!

It can’t hurt to try! The dealer could snag one out of the pipeline and you might get one sooner than later. Not a long shot. This Thursday will mark 4 months since I put a $500 deposit on a Lunar Pro and the dealer still hasn’t received the allocation for build yet. I’m on target to wait the full 6 months. It’s different from dealer to dealer and state to state. Hope you get one!

I just put a $500CAD refundable deposit for a 2022 TRD Offroad (subject to price). Dealer showed me a feature list (Vehicle Ordering Guide - MY22 4Runner), Off road and Pro will have Panoramic View/Multi Terrain Monitor. It doesn't say BSM though (SR5 has BSM listed). LR is the the new color for OR. I actually have the printout but I'm not allowed to post it.

BSM and panoramic view would have been great to have in 2021. I just couldn't wait!

Given all the insanity, I don't think I'd go through the trouble of trading my Pro in to get the 2022, but it irks me how slowly they have rolled out all these options that are standard (or available) on so many other models.

I just had a call with Toyota dealership in Centennial CO for 3 quotes. They told me that they will be selling 4Runner & Highlander Hybrid $5000 + MSRP & Highlander gas models $2000 over MSRP. 4Runner build to order would take about an year to deliver..:eek:

I'd buy elsewhere. I sold my '16 SR5 4Runner and will be buying from a dealer about an hour away that doesn't charge over MSRP.

ETA: The dealer that we've bought our last 2 Toyota's from is charging $2K over MSRP for their TRD Pro so I'm going elsewhere which is the dealership that is about twice as far away.

Just Ordered King Coil overs with adjusters, SPC UCAs, rear shocks w/adjusters.
Exactly right, I just ordered a 21 TRD ORP about 3 weeks ago, I don't care if I get a 21 or 22 as long as it has the 21 upgrades and the LED headlights. (BTW the LED headlights on my 2018 Tundra are terrific for stock lighting compared to the old halogen lights.)

I won't buy the first 2-4 years of a new 4Runner. I'm not an "early adopter", because being the Guinea pig is usually painful even with Toyotas. The 2018 Tundra I bought had all the new TSS stuff on it and it went through numerous software upgrades and recalls. The reason I bought the Tundra Limited is that the stuff that counts (power-train, body, 4WD system, etc.) were tried and true components. The new 2023 (or 2024) 4Runner will be ALL NEW and therefor a potential pain.

Interesting that the SR5 would have it listed and not the OR.

I wonder if it's on all the 'Premium' models?

Did you order a standard OR?

I think they gave you bad info.

There is no hybrid 4Runner and they are discontinuing the Nightshade, so that won't even be an option for 2022.

Sorry for the miscommunication, only the Highlander is Hybrid @nimby .
    • 2021 4Runner Limited with 3row 4wd - $5000 over msrp
    • 2021 Highlander Hybrid AWD - $5000 over msrp
    • 2021 Highlander gas AWD - $2000 over msrp

My buddy decided only to sell his current vehicle (Honda Pilot) and wait to see if new vehicle market becomes better.

In Canada, we only have one OR trim, it is similar to ORP in US...

UPDATE: Well all indications are that my vehicle arrived stateside (aboard RORO vehicle transport Century Highway Green) and was offloaded today at Long Beach - exactly on schedule.

Now just waiting for a call from the dealer in Denver giving me an expected delivery date.

I’m hoping for the 17th or so - time for activities at Toyota Logistics (no port installed options), waiting / loading for rail transport, then truck to dealer, and a day of dealer prep.

    Waiting is hard!

Mine is supposed to arrive between the 19th and 26th.

Anybody know what 4Runner finance rates through are looking like? Usually they aren't very good on 4Runners. Would only finance $15k or so. May just pay for it cash after trading in but if the rate is low enough, I supposed I could spread that out.

Good to know. I've heard great things about PenFed. I've used Lightstream a few times in the past as well. Super easy to use. They are around 2.49% and up currently though.

Yeah, if you’re not a member join a credit union. You can get 100% financing on a new car. About 2.5%. Pay it off early, boost your FICO credit score in the process.
    Do not finance through dealers.

I used a local credit union years ago. Credit is more than fine at in the mid 800's.

Just trying to decide what to do for the remaining balance. Cash on hand is always nice lol

I'm seeing delays in Title/Registration as well. I went back to the dealer last month to renew my Temp plates. No luck yet, not sure what's the reason.
(I used to get it in a month or so with all my vehicles in the past.)

    OK -

Dealer called today and said delivery is expected between 26 Jul and 2 Aug!!!

So it will take 3 - 4 weeks to travel from Long Beach to Denver - wasn’t expecting that.

Oh well at least I have a delivery date now. Will post again with a timeline summary when I finally take delivery.
