Has anyone ever seen this issue? Front plate popped off at low speed puddle crossing. I’m not impressed.

My video won’t upload. Went through a foot deep puddle of mud. The front part of my bumper which holds my license plate detached with little effort. All of the plastic brackets are broken. I thought this was an off road vehicle.Anyone else have this problem?

Guessing the front valance ripped off? It's not uncommon, thing is only held on by 13 plastic clips.

Perfect excuse to get a metal bumper.

You're bound to get trail damage if you off road. First mark hurts, after that not so much. Pay to play.

Are you talking about the actual license plate bracket?

There’s nothing holding that thing on.

If you mean the actual license plate bracket, that's not uncommon. High speed water crossings especially will rip the whole thing right off. The screws holding the bracket to the bumper (SR5) or the valance (OR, PRO) are only threaded into the plastic with no backing. The water surges under the plate, which multiplies force, rips out the plastic threads, and then levers the bracket and plate right off. I've lost 2 plates and don't run a front plate anymore in part because of that.

Valance loss (OR, PRO) is a little less common but still happens. Normally that's a factor of approach angle and ripping it away. I'm not personally familiar with losing one to water but I guess it could happen.

Thank you . Lost the valance at low speed. Can’t get my video to load. A bit disappointed with how Toyota designed this joke of a bumper.

The valence is not the actual bumper but a cosmetic overlay basically, it's held in with plastic clips. SR5s don't even have the extra body cladding.

The problem in the video is not the SUV "4Runner"....the driver needs to have another lesson how to drive in this situation.

I don't know how anyone could look at the 4R and think it could handle any type of impact. Slimline bumper will fix that though.

Exactly, the obstacle is not a problem for the 4runner, the driver is the obstacle for the 4runner!

Judging from the look of the passenger side of his 4R, I don't think it'll matter to the owner that the bumper got ripped off.

That was avoidable but he doesn't seem to mind. And it isn't mine...

He must have been on the market for an aftermarket front bumper...

From the camera angle it looks like even if he got up that he’d get high centered at the top.
