2018 4Runner terrible in snow bad traction - Differential or Computer problem?

Blizzaks will solve your problem really quick! These paired with 4WD are the most amazing winter and ice traction I’ve ever had on my 4Runner.

I'm with you on this. Something doesn't add up with all of this. Bent axle?? Not likely.

 

If you collide with a curb by sliding into it at high speed, like during a snowstorm, it can cause some very weird problems with the wheels and drivetrain.

But that should be easily diagnosed by Christmas tree lights.

 

Sounds like they are guessing. Time to take it to a different dealer. Also you may wish to get better tires.

 

Sold the Duelers two days after buying new 4R.

They were oem on my last car and I kept them until ready for replacement. Not worth it.

Those tires absolutely suck in the snow. I had multiple times when the ABS kicked in when slowing down -- even very gently, and at low speeds. I had one experience where the truck climbed a snowy incline no prob but when I turned around it then started sliding down the same incline with the brakes applied. They suck suck suck.

NOTE: OP still hasn't answered the question, asked a few times, about which tires are on his 4R. He's just said he got new tires from the dealer and the problem continued.

While his description of the problem sounds more serious than the result of just shit tires -- well, these tires are so bad in the snow that maybe that's the actual answer. If this truck came with these crap tires, and the dealer just put another set of the same model on, cause that's what the truck came with, and that's what they had in stock, well then I'd expect the thing to be scary as F in the snow.

Did I mention that these tires suck in the snow?

 

Dueler HT 684 II tires are horrible in the snow.& mud& ice& everything we get for weather in New England.
Luckily it is summer and I can deal with them for now.
I researched them on tire rack. They are almost $200 tires.
Pricey for such a crap traction tire. imo
