    Hey everyone,
Was planning on swapping out my headlights and am deciding between the Alpharex Luxx and the Morimoto XB LED for my 21 TRD ORP

Cost difference between the two isn’t any issue for me, but would one be better than the other or any reason why anybody that decided between the two chose one over the other?

    thanks in advance!

Morimoto is the only way to go. Alpharex are straight from Ali express China crap.

Between Morimoto and Alpharex I'd choose.... the OEM LEDs.

There have been a lot of complaints about both, and pics that have been posted of the light patterns have not been at all impressive. I really don't know why it makes sense to think that either would produce a farther, wider and brighter beam pattern than the OEM LEDs.

There was a guy on here recently who put his 2021 TRD Pro headlights up for sale cause he bought Alpharex -- then he said, oops, nevermind, I'm putting the OEMs back in -- they're way better.

Sell your OEM LED's to someone with an older 5th gen and take their housings and put H9's in them. :)

LOL, that'd probably produce better lighting that Morimoto or Alpharex.

And the guy who got the 2021 OEM LEDs would end up with better lighting too -- a win win!

That said, I should stop discouraging people from selling their OEM LEDs in order to buy something worse -- cause I wanna buy those LEDs as soon as I can figure out how to wire them into my 2020!

I can't imagine it would be difficult. The wiring harnesses might even be the same. :notsure:

I wish I could find a definitive answer on this, and like a youtube how-to video or something. I keep seeing people saying it works or isn't hard, but never see any details. Honestly, I wouldn't mind paying a dealer to do it. But unlike the OEM LED fogs, the headlights ain't on their list of things they install.

Now you can use the money saved for something more practical, like Rigid D-SS ditch lights, or a winch, etc. :bananadance:

I prefer the OEM LED headlights though would like to find black housing to swap in. Having no luck whatsoever. Anyone know of an option that I may have overlooked?

Yea nothing will ever beat oem output and quality wise. Your best bet, if they even do them for 4Runners, is finding someone who does retrofitted oem lights. Alpharex are subpar Chinese crap. It isn’t a legitimate headlight at all, it is a short range flood light, which is not what you want in a headlight. You want distance light, not short range foreground light. And those are the Gen1 Morimotos on the right, the Gen2s are significantly brighter. You get what you pay for…

I thought the 21' LED OEM's were good.

    Why change to aftermarket?

You might be able to tint the stock ones. There's different options out there.

I’ve had my Alpharexx headlights for 6 months. I like the drl and sequential features but I’d agree with the everyone on the output. It’s not the greatest at all. I’ve also had issues when using the high beams. When engaged they flicker occasionally and I still haven’t figured out a solution which is frustrating.

Copying my response from another thread:
Every picture I've seen posted so far shows that the Alpharex headlights may be fun to look at, but poor in terms of actual performance.

See how they are brighter, but they don't reach as far as the stock halogen bulbs? That's actually REALLY important for driving.

Here you can see some terrible quality control (hint: your high beams shouldn't look like this because they aren't independently aimable).

    8b5d3f437a50f61b6b994f9f5c36ae78_bc5b6b12e032453ed32bc83526b7a5e775bfa611.jpg

To be fair, Morimoto is also a house brand for The Retrofit Source that imports Chinese-made housings. They don't develop anything themselves. But the quality does at least appear to be better than AlphaRex. I would still keep your OEM LED headlights over either one. Heck, I'd keep my stock halogen housings over either one.

OP, if you're looking for some auxiliary lighting upgrades, there are some great options to choose from- even street legal options. Diode Dynamics makes the best fog lights on the market (sport, pro, or max). They also make auxiliary driving lights (street legal as extra high beams). You can get a bolt on kit using dual 6" bars, or check out how I did my own with custom brackets.

I will say Morimoto makes awesome puddle light replacement for the Tundra ! That, and they are a solid company to buy from and make things right if order is missing or broken.

I'm that guy they are talking about but yes those alpharex are still on my 2021 pro. Drl isn't bright at all. Low beam is a makita drill light :bananadead: I had morimoto too and the fitment isn't any good having a small gap on top. For 1400 you would expect more. Wish the 2021 headlights had a drl like the taco :annoyed:

How are your AlphaRex performing now? I have been looking at them and seems like a lot of good reviews but curious on longevity.

I am curious on the Morimoto XB LED Gen 2 headlights and tail lights for the ‘24 TRDPRO. They don’t fit right? Beam is not as good as OEM? Did I just waste $1.8K?

I've had my alpharex luxx for 1.5 years now. 100x better than the shitty output of the stock halogens. And do like the drl and turns. And looks a million times better without all the chrome.
Will echo the statements of fitment is slightly of enough to notice, the bumper cover doesn't sit exactly right.
I suggest not paying retail. Wait for black Friday level deals.
