04 4runner with an occasional clicking noise that sounds like a typewriter coming from behind glove box. Seems to only do it when I turn the AC on, and then usually stops in 5-10 minutes. I’ve searched a couple threads but not sure this is the same issue. I have a video of the sound but not sure how to upload it here.

Not familiar with 4th gens at all but are there any relays back there? Relays can often sound like typewriters when not working right.

I have it out and looking at it, it’s not very dirty. Nothing really stuck in here, just some dust/dirt in the blades. I’ll clean it up and put it back, hope this solves it. That rear screw was a bitch.

I dont think so. If it were the relays wouldn’t that mean the battery is weak? My car starts strong, everything works great, just a clicking sound every here and there when I turn on the AC. The battery is barely 2 years old.

To add to that, a quick “4th gen 4runner relay clicking” search seems to only come up with 3rd gens.

The relay itself could be bad doesn't necessarily have to be a battery issue.

Gotcha. I pulled out the blower and cleaned it up and put it back in. Haven’t heard the clicking yet so fingers crossed.
