Anyone have this option? If so is it worth it?

From what I see it can be added at the port.

Either the USB's only or the USB's with charging cable kit.

Well they are trying to charge you like 130 for the cables. Rip off. I ordered it with the charger though. More usbs the better.

I agree 100% but I guess it depends what state you are in. Dealer says it gives them the option add the usb+ charging cables for $199 but not the usb only $65 option…

Yeah Wisconsin couldn’t do the usb only. I’m not paying for the cables.

I’ll let ya know how it hooks up. I have to rip it apart to install a sub when it comes in.

Very simple to add. I bought my off eBay for $41.00. Here is the part number. 00016-00225
The kit comes with everything you need to install. Takes longer to disassemble to dash then to install.

Does this replace the 12v cigarette light adapter? It removes it altogether?

Yes the 12volt outlet is removed all together. This is so worth it. I installed a wireless charging pad and have it plugged in there. Here is a pic I took during install. Like I said everything is included.

This is interesting. I'm not that expert on electrical stuff -- do we know that this thing puts out more power than is possible from the 12V / cigarette lighter port that's connected to the very same wires? For example, can't we just plug a higher power USB charger into the 12V socket and get the same result? I ask first because that would be much easier than taking apart the dash etc. For example, this unit here just plugs right into that socket, costs $11, and has two charging ports putting out 24watts total (presumably 12W each). https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charge...ords=12v+to+usb+adapter&qid=1623726930&sr=8-4

Or this one, which says it charges at up to 36 watts. That's more than the Apple iPhone quick charger that you plug into the wall.

Secondly, it would be nice to have something that outputs to USB C, not just this old style USB A. Or to be able to switch between USB A and USB C chargers (most charging cords for new phones are USB C on one or both ends).

This one for $17 has both a USB C and USB A port, and says it charges at up to 36 watts.
    https://www.amazon.com/Charger-AINO...ds=12v+to+usb+C+adapter&qid=1623727532&sr=8-3

    What am I missing here?

here ya go, Anker brand. Contains both a USB C port that charges at up to 30 watts, and a USB A port that charges at 12 watts. As I recall, the old tiny Apple charging cubes that came with iPhones for years, that you plug into the wall, only charge at 5 watts. And their new fast charger charges at 20 watts. So this seems pretty darn good for $32.

    I still don't get it.

    Can someone explain why this:

    is better than this:

I followed the wireless charging instructions from another members write. I didn’t doc mine. As far as what is better or I don’t get it for the usb….. choice is all.

Thanks. I'm not dissing the choice of the OEM solution. It has a really nice look, very flush, better than one of these adapters protruding from the 12V. Was just honestly trying to understand if it would provide a quicker charge or other benefits that I was missing. Cause I would like faster charging but rather not take apart the dash (and as also mentioned, would like the option of USB C charging).

    Thanks again.

I think more than anything its the flush OEM look that attracts me to the toyota option. Now if there was something like it with faster and USB C charging.... That would be perfect.

I use flush type charger on 12v outlet and also tapped wire from 12v outlet to additional USB charger.

I really liked this diy option, but my ip10 does not fit. If I put it in the other way, always slides out.

i opted to just use a wireless charger in the arm rest.
