I went with Toyo AT3's and I couldn't be happier with them.

I plan on the Toyo's too. The Falkens lost me with all the balancing problems.

I was loyal to bf but the terrible wet traction and then the balancing issues on the ko2's made me change.

I run Falken Wild Peak on my '98 ltd. My brother, who has run a local tire business here in town for over 20 years, recommended them. He runs on them as well.
They are reasonably priced and great off road. Also very quiet on the highway. Cannot hear a thing. They run just as smooth as the highway tread Generals on my 2016.

Anything, short of studs or chains is loose on ice. I personally really like Falkens

Agreed! Mud tires shouldn't be run in the winter anyway.

I've heard mostly excellent reviews of Falkens, with the exception usually being balancing issues.

I installed a set of Yokohama Geolander MT's earlier this year and am very impressed with them. They're reasonably quiet, seem to be wearing well, and have had excellent grip in all kinds of terrain so far.

I've had a few sets of other Yokohamas in the past and have been consistently pleased.

Like I said, it seems to be the exception. But, it's well known that balancing issues have occurred with the Wildpeaks AT3W's. A good friend of mine ended up swapping his out for Toyos after a few attempts at balancing.

I wonder if it's partially due to the shops installing/balancing them, though. I had KO2's for a year and they were perfect despite some others having had balancing issues with them.

Also, my Toyo AT3's were perfect when my shop installed them. I lost some weights and had them rebalanced at a chain due to convenience, and still wound up with a wobble. I went back to Performance Off-road for another rebalance, and it was perfect again.

It seems that the less experienced tire techs struggle with big, heavy tires.

Everybody goes through this - KO2s are the most logical tire and look the best but over-analysis is fun when you’re an enthusiast about a vehicle. Boring but true, but it’s the KO2. Constant research and weighing options is fun though. Enjoy!

I would have to agree, based on my own experience. I think it might be the techs to blame....dunno.
Maybe I'm just lucky that my Brother's shop does all my mounting and balancing.

Looking the best isn't the objective here. JMO. No offense intended,. I want a good looking tire, however, that is secondary to perfomance.

I enjoyed mine. They are great overall. But, they're not the best option for everyone. The Falken AT3W and Toyo AT3 among others are pushing for the top spot. There are many good options right now. The AT market is extremely competitive.

I think in general that experienced techs are worth paying more for. I have bought tires at the cheapest place and regretted it. I have never regretted spending my money at my off-road shop, though. Good guys who care are worth a little more money.

So true! Many have commented that the sidewall on the Toyo AT3 isn't aggressive enough. I haven't heard many complaints about performance, though.

I went with the general grabber ATX for mine, about 1200 miles on them so far and they have been fantastic. They are probably the best riding set of tires I have used to date, grip well and wet weather traction has been awesome.

I spent over nine years in the wheel/tire business and in my opinion there's only one tire worth running on my trucks. Here's all the Toyota's I have/have had...Nitto Ridge Grappler

I agree but only if the majority of your driving is off-road the on road behavior is lacking also most people don’t swap tires to winter/ off-road as needed so my choice is really best overall for eastern coast driving and the falken wildpeaks win hands down

They're definitely one of the more popular options. If nothing else, they definitely look nice.

I know a bunch of guys who off-road Wildpeaks all over the place. They're a great all-around tire.

I mentioned it earlier, but there are guys who off-road all over the place on Wildpeaks. They are also a fantastic all around tire. Of course they won't hang with a true MT in mud, but neither will those Nittos.

Extent of my off-roading is the beaches, so the Falken Wildpeak AT3 SL have been great for me. Not loud on the pavement and balancing issues have been none existent (knock on wood). Awesome in the winter and look good too!

Bought my 4r with 7k miles. Replaced the Bridgestone Duelers with Toyo AT3's in stock size and SL load rating. Just didn't like the look of pure street tread on the 4r.

Did not notice any noise or ride difference. I had the Duelers on for a couple of days and it was dry and warm those days and has been since.
It wasn't until I removed the Yakima basket off the roof that I heard some tire noise. It's not much and you basically have to have the radio turned down or off. I can hear the tires until about 40mph when the general noise of the vehicle drowns out the sound of the tires.

I had considered Nitto Ridge Grapplers as I had them on my Ram, but I always felt they were not great on wet pavement. It was a truck and the back end is light, even so I had to be gentle not to spin them from a stop. They did do really well in the snow even in 2wd with a load of snow shoveled into the bed.

Bumping the Thread, I have about 15K miles on my KO2’s and it seems as thought they are getting louder the more mileage I put on them. I’ve rotated and balanced twice at around the 7K mark (at 7K and than at around 14K)Any one else have Thai same issue?

I rotated mine every 5K and they were quiet at 29K. Are you just rotating front to back? Or are you crossing the tires over?
