    Question:
What would cause all 4 Wildpeaks to be clean on the outside edge after driving through a gravel easement? This has happened since they were new and they have 6K miles on them now.
I understand it can’t be alignment since the rear is doing what the front is doing and the rear can’t be adjusted.

I’m all ears! Please chime in.

Won't overinflated tires result in a worn center?

    You went through gravel.

There’s no dust on the tire shoulders.

    The center IS wearing.

Concur on the overinflated. That means only the center is touching, as previously stated.

I agree with above, over inflated.

I recommend checking your air pressure. Also, check the far inside of the tire. It’s likely doing the same thing as the outside that the photo shows.

As it overinflates, the center protrudes, as it’s not held back by the sidewalls. So, you’re riding on a much smaller patch of center tire, and your outsides aren’t making contact with the gravel below.

The inside is as dirty as the center, and only the outside is like this. I'm running at 36-37psi and if I air down to 32, the tire looks flat. I did notice that on hot days the tire psi goes up to 40-41. They fluctuate about 5-6psi on the dash monitor from cold to warm.

In that case, I bow out. Probably not an alignment, doesn’t sound like psi, would be a strange occurrence to have four tires all have the same shorter outside edge manufacturing flaw.

Last effort: I see there is water on the outside of the tire and the fender flare. Is it possible that that edge is simply getting rinsed off by the moisture falling from above? The gravel line on the tire isn’t exactly a straight edge.

I thought that too, but it’s this way wet or dry when I drive over the easement to park. I can try to lower psi to 32-33 and see how it goes after warming up to 37-38.

I ran my Bridgestone Blizzaks at 38 psi and the centers turned bald after four seasons.

Guys, I've done it. After years and years of us wondering what our tire pressure is supposed to be, chalk tests, discussions and arguments I've done it. I found the answer we've been questing for. This may be a bigger find than Pandora's Box or the Arc of the Covenant. Bestow your eyes upon all the answers you've been waiting for.

    photo.jpg

Legend has it there's also a book containing what kind of oil we should use and how often it needs replacing.

I'm still trying to crack the code if I can fit 33's with no lift however. I'll report back when I have more info.

I don’t even recall the last time I had stock size and load rating tires on my truck.

I did lower the pressure to 35 and got a dirt strip on the outside tread!
