Maybe it's just you and me @BlackInSac !!! Hopefully Bodie comes otherwise we'll me randomly exploring with the help of my Delorme Gazeteer (which has never been a bad thing).

I think we will opt out of breakfast on Sunday because it's 1:20 from my buddy's house in Folsom to Cisco Gap exit. Probably just grab some coffee on the road.

No judging in this group. Except if you drive a hummer. Then some hilarious judging. I also invited a friend with a Jeep, but I don't think he's coming.

I'll bring my .12 gauge, I just ask that we find a spot that has already been shot up. I'm ok with guns, but not ok with the proliferation of new shooting spots since Covid. Some really nice places are being fucked up by n00bs shooting spray paint cans and similar shenanigans.

 

Of course, you don't know me and I don't know you, but I'm always a leave it better than you found it kinda explorer. Plus I was a rangemaster at one point.

Anyone in the thread played around with the HOV trails up near Lake Pilsbury?

real fun stuff up there and I would be into coordinating a trip if people were down.

 

Been SE of there, up to Goat Mountain a few times, back when the hot springs were still open. Good times on a Honda 80! Nice, smooth trails and great views of the valley.

 

Family plans changed... We won't make this one unfortunately. . You all have fun up there and we will catch the next one... Hopefully

 

Looks like four of us, plus a Ford Ranger. I took someone hiking in the area yesterday, so did a little scouting along our route. The trails are nice and damp thanks to this week's storm, so little dust. The biggest obstacles to passage are downed trees, although I did turn around at one puddle because it was a really bad spot, on a corner. But I confirmed my backup plans are all open, so no matter, we've got some good routes available. See you tomorrow at Cisco, 9:30ish. I did have phone service there, so call if you're super late.

Knobby tire represents exploring by truck or motorcycle, M&M is initials of my first name and wife's first name, date we met, 'explore rinse repeat' was a little slogan we thought up, background is a topo map of Badlands SD which was our first trip together, campfire, rock cairns, tent, coffee pot, separated by compass arrows which represent our interests in exploring, camping and hiking and drinking the fuck out of coffee...

 

Thanks for leading the way. I had a lot of fun. Ryan (who had never really driven off road before and as previously mentioned drives a Subaru sedan) had a ton of fun learning and driving part of it. He was super-excited about the water crossing. Do we have pics of that?
