I have been talking to a dealer in town about a new 4Runner. It’s the same same story as everyplace else right now, high demand, low inventory, can’t keep them in stock and so on. I asked if they were marking the vehicles up over sticker and he said only on the Pros because of the off-road stuff they have to add. I’m waiting for more clarification on what they add for close to 10k. Does any one have any thoughts on what that could be? I thought the Pro was pretty capable the way it is.

Stealership markup. I paid msrp for mine.

I think it’d be best to ask then what off-road stuff they added. There isn’t much of anything the dealer is required to add.

Be ready to walk away. This market will correct and your Pro won't be worth anything close to that marked up number.

I paid $44,818 out the door with tax, title and licensing included in that $44,818. There are deals out there and dealerships willing to negotiate.

Paid sticker for my pro. Had add ons options but not dealer, because I literally bought it off the truck as it pulled in. Just clear masking, pullout rear deck and blacked out decals. Manufacturers add ons that came with it. What can the dealer add that it's doesn't already have? A ladder maybe?

Dealer can add leveling kit (spacers) and swap tires for 275s. That’s what mine did. 1” up in the front to get rid of the rake.

Didn’t justify the markup they charged but at least it was something. I’m in So Cal where there is zero chance of msrp. Either travel or pay more here.

I’m in San Diego too. I would prefer not to pay a mark up and I am OK with traveling to pick up a new vehicle.

I paid a few $K under MSRP in December 2020. Just have to find a non-metro area dealer and wait.

Likely BS on any dealer add ons to a TRD PRO. Other than what's done at port. Seems to be a few fortunate folks who found and purchased a PRO at MSRP:)notsure:, tho many say so - none have ever provided proof, that said, I'm sure some got that lucky). After weeks of calling and contacting dealers all over the US I wasn't able to find a dealer whom sold at MSRP and ended up paying 5K over locally. (I'm just northeast of you in the desert). Good luck with your search.

I paid MSRP for my Lunar Rock Pro... but I flew to Minot, ND to pick it up... and had an AWESOME road trip home with it... $53,057 with Blackout emblems, cargo cover, sliding cargo deck, door edge guards, running boards, and the power ports cable package.

Thanks and congrats on your 4Runner. I spoke to a dealer in Santa Rosa who said they will sell at sticker. I’m on the waitlist so let’s see if that pans out.

i paid MSRP but i also kinda paid
$1259 over sticker for my TRD Pro 2 months ago. dealer added a $800 package that included tint with lifetime warranty, wheel locks and something else i cant think of right now. also from the factory it came with the VPP package which is super useless. i wasnt trilled with paying 58k drive out, but carmax giving me way more then i expected for my M3 made it easier to swallow. pause. You should have flew out to the East Coast! There are dealers that will sell at sticker for the Pro but you have to try and try until they get them in stock. There are also dealers advertising ridiculous markups.

    Dealer at MSRP:

    https://www.sloanetoyotaphiladelphi...adelphia-48266b7b0a0e09b050141d439cfd5f7a.htm

    Dealer way higher than MSRP:

Yes! It’s ridiculous right now. I was looking at a ORP a couple weeks ago. The dealer made no bones about the added mark up.

A lot of the MSRP listings for Pro's shown on the dealership internet sites do not include the dealer markup that are sure to follow. Especially now that one can no longer order a 2021 Pro.

Apparently the Lunar Rock Pro that I lucked into less than two weeks ago had been ordered by someone else. That purchaser lost patience with the process and somehow purchased one elsewhere. I got lucky! I wonder how many more LR's are left in the supply chain that are not claimed?

Got mine yesterday for MSRP at Palm Beach Toyota, but did have to pay $999 extra for dealer-applied diamond ceramic paint protection (although I was totally good with that).

With the TRD Pro I would ask them Show me what "Off Road" stuff did you have to add? Lift? nope the Pro Already has lift.. Fancy Floor mats? Yep $169 but that is not Off Road stuff .. Window tint? Yep but that is not off Road stuff.. the list goes on and on, I went to several of these liars of dealership sales bullshiters until I found one that gave me the facts and no added BS (Wades Toyota in St. George UT) the Price was right no hidden fees I drove home with it No Buyer's regret latter. So you do have to shop around and know where you want to be when done and of all things don't let the big "I want it" get in the way of your common sense that is telling you hold back and don't waste 10 grand on a salesman bs mark up.

Put in an order Friday for a 2021 Pro in LR at MSRP - however, this dealer orders their Pros with all the adds they can. In my case it was sliding cargo tray, predator steps, console safe, matts all around - stuff like that. Out the door price without tax is 53,700. So no dealer markup but $2500 in stuff I didn't want. Was the only way I could find one this year. Turns out the volume dealers don't usually mark their inventory up as Toyota is not necessarily ok with the added money. As of Saturday, Toyota of Des Moines still had one not yet bought Pro remaining. Salesman said delivery is out until September / October timeframe.

People in California are paying $65,000-$75,000 for a bro pro.

Especially if it comes in a “rare limited edition” color that Toyota also puts on the other trim levels and the Tacoma.

Then they put a refugee tent on it, get some custom black and yellow plates, an illegal ass tint, and drive around looking for overlanding adventure (tm) in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 580.

My sticker had $1700 worth of Southeast Toyota Port Add Ons that I did not want. I was lucky enough to have then all removed, because the 4Runner had not hit port yet and was still on a ship from Japan.

It took a few days working with the sales manager, but the new sticker price was eventually reduced by $1700 and all the Port Add Ons were gone, like the plastic door protectors and internal LED lights.

I have been told that the dealer makes about 50% markup on these overpriced port added accessories. Once they are installed, good luck getting them removed.

    Examples:

Internal LED package was $199, which is less than $20 worth of LED bulbs. Sure someone had to install them, but $199 is crazy.

The plastic door protection is nothing but a flexible plastic strip, available at any auto stores for a few bucks.

Is it me or does everyone want a pro this year, I've never seen such a demand for the pro before. Worst possible time to get that one, I've seen them sell in a day with the 10k markup. Crazy how once something becomes "scarce" everyone wants it

I think it is the upper arm of the K recovery buyers! Those that were well positioned during the Covid Crisis have been gainfully employed, huge stock market gains, huge equity gains in their houses, reduced interest rates on their mortgages making their houses cheaper, increased savings because unable to spend during Covid, thus a pent up demand for those that are able. An extra $10 - 15K for these buyers is not a big deal!

When I ordered mine in March, the base MSRP was $50,570 + add ons. If you go to Toyota's website, the base price has now changed to $50,745. They actually increased the MSRP by $175 mid cycle. I've never heard of that before.
