Hello, i know this gets brought up alot so feel free to ignore.

i got a set of trd wheels for a deal i couldnt refuse. However, im actually one of the few people that like the sr5 snowflake wheel design. Torn as i like both wheels.

Other than aesthetics, are there any benefits/quality upgrades to the trd wheel?

Also, (dont judge me), i did buy some black wheel skins for the sr5 wheels), although a couple tabs already broke from first tire rotation so i dont see them lasting past the next.

I'm a big fan of TRD Offroad wheels than any other wheel coming with 5th Gen 4Runners.

TRD Offroad wheels are 7.5in wide which meets the minimum width recommend for bigger tires like 285/70R17.

SR5 or TRD Pro wheels are 7in wide and not recommend for bigger wheels by tire manufacturers.

I even changed the wheels on my Limited 20 x 7 wheels to TRD Offroad 17 x 7.5 wheels with 285/70R17 tires.

I already had 2.5 front + 1.5rear lift on the Limited. All I had to do was a fender liner mod to fit the 285s.

I did similar mod for my TRD ORP to fit 285s.

The OR wheels also have a feature that protects the valve stem. The other oem wheels don't.

Can the stock sr5 tire size (265/70/r17 fit on the trd wheels?

Not sure if the whee width 7 vs. 7.5 would be an issue for the same size tire?

The OR wheels are probably the best choice for true off-roading.

I had the dealership install the Pro rims with NG 285's on my SR5 simply because I liked the look.

I told them they could keep the stock SR5 rims/tires. I have more than enough clutter in my garage.

My dealership puts 285's on all the 7" pro rims even though there's evidence that it's not recommended.

Who knows, maybe when it's time to replace the tires I will have to go back to the dealer because other tire shops will not install 285's on my 7" rims. Maybe that's their master plan. ;)

How does a wheel handle a tire of different sizes? For example, how does a rim 7.5 accept a 265 and 285? Thanks in advance for educating me

    Feel free to ask

Other than being able to get them on the cheap, this is one of the main reasons I got them.

    Looks good!

You'll see in the specs for any tire that there is a range of acceptable rim widths. 7.5" tends to be the minimum width for 285's.
