Ok people, forgive me if there is a specific thread for MR703's and rubbing issues in general. There obviously is a ton of info on 285s rubbing with all sorts of setups but I'm looking for a little reassurance before a pull the trigger on a new set of wheels and tires for my 2019 ORP. Maybe from someone who has experience with this specific setup or someone familiar. All info is appreciated...

I have a set of King 2.5s I plan on installing soon with 650lb springs up front and Icon 2" springs in the rear. I plan on setting the front between 2"-2.5". I would still like to maintain some rake while keeping the lift still relatively mild. Also I have a set of SPC UCAs that will be going on as well which will help with caster adjustments if needed. I really don't want to go bigger than 2.5" up front right now for this is still my daily driver and we have to commute from Dallas to most places we like to camp and get on trails.

Its common knowledge that each 4runner is a little different but does anyone see an obvious problem here? I plan on running MR703s which are 17x8.5 with 0 offset and 4.75 backspacing with Toyo At3s in 285/70/17 C load. I am willing to Mod as needed but of course would like to avoid a BMC if possible.

Pics and info are welcomed. Thanks everyone.

Just ask to have your caster set as close to 4 degrees as they can while maintaining other specs and that should help. There’s several people on here running stock OR rims with 285’s with no issues but at 0 offset you might be riding the line between needing and not needing a BMC. If you off-road I would imagine you’ll be rubbing the body mount. I’d plan on doing the front fender liner mod and possibly the BMC.

Great. Thank you for the insight. So would running a rim with a little offset reduce the likelihood of a BMC? Is there a fine line between just enough and too much?

Grater negative offset means you’ll have a greater chance of rubbing the body mount. Greater positive offset means you’ll have a greater chance of rubbing the UCA. The stock OR rims have +15mm offset I believe, and some people have no issues with 285’s so I would guess that around that measurement is the sweet spot. In your case I would suspect if you get good caster specs on your alignment, and do some front bumper/liner work you should be good to go but may rub if you off-road. I’m not an expert so take it as a grain of salt but those are my thoughts.

With 285 KO2s and the same 703 rims, I had to tweak the stock mud flaps to keep them and trim the rocker panel cap (see my post in 5th gen mods for the day). I just did the front liner push back and trim because I was still getting a little rubbing up front when out wheeling.

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah it think the K02s are a little more meaty than the At3 so hopefully I will have similar results. How do you like the 703s? Any pics you have hanging around you'd want to upload?
