Camber Gain

When you lift a truck, don’t you get camber gain that needs to be adjusted out so the tires have a better wear pattern as before? Everybody talks about caster, but I don’t see much about this.

 

Its not spoken a lot of because alignment fixes it which you should be getting on any lift. So not much to talk about.


Everyone talks about getting the most out of your camber so we can fit larger tires under there.

Whar @Dillusion and @Daytonaviolet said. An alignment shop will put camber and toe-in in spec. A lot of people try to get as much caster as possible to get the tires further from the firewall and body mounts.

 

After market UCA automatically gets you more caster

 

^^^this is true! They allow more caster than the OEM UCA's. But, the original shop that aligned my 4runner post-lift put them at 3.4°, so I had it realigned a month or so later to get more.

 

I'm glad my dealership knew how to get all of that stuff setup with my lift and 285's.

They just did the forward fender nip and tuck per the Toyota service bulletin and everything else is stock with no rubbing or alignment issues. No aftermarket UCA's and no body mount chopping. And mud flaps remain installed.

I dont think its a TSB.

Its just a little trimming if you put 285s on you will see where it rubs.

 

It actually is a TSB, but they make it way more complicated than it needs to be with templates and 18 pages of instructions!!

I wish people here would talk about camber, as it is of particular importance to me. I think most are ignorant regarding camber though, especially in the truck world. Understandably, though. Over in the car world, caster was far less discussed (if at all).

 

Never knew there was a tsb & template.
