17” or 18” wheels? Pros/cons

    Is there any reason to stay with 17” wheels rather than go bigger? Is 18” noticeable enough difference? Don’t really want to go up to 20” Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks in advance

    Not super noticeable, but you'll find 17" contains the most common tires. If you go 18" you'll find less options, brands, P/C/E load ranges, etc.

    Also, 17" tires are typically less expensive than 18" due to their popularity and therefore larger supply.

    Finally, if you're actually going to offroad you want more tire, less wheel. Useful when airing down, and comfort. Not to mention you don't want to hit your wheel and dent it.

    Too many mods and too much money
    If you go offroad, 18s have a little less side wall comparatively for the same diameter tire, so in theory your wheel could suffer damage a little easier. 17 is a more common size, so tire availability might be an issue going with an 18.
    I also see no major reason to not go with an 18. I don't own any, but I kind of like the lower profile look of an 18.

    I actually noticed there are a few interesting tire sizes for 18" wheels. I forget offhand what they are, but I think there's one that's like a 32.5x10.50, which I think could be a cool upgrade size for stock suspension.

    I like my factory FJ 17's, but if I were to go aftermarket Id consider 18's depending on the size tire I wanted to run.

    Go 17". More tire sidewall is a good thing.

    Definitely going with some aftermarkets and considering 18’s. Just kinda wanna Not look like another carbon copy 4rnr. But definitely agree with the more tire options for 17’s Off-reading is not a major concern because it will be limited. Not many trail options where I am mostly mud holes

    I understand this completely. There's a lot that are similar. The problem for me is that I do go off-roading and 17+265 or 285 is pretty much unbeatable for that, so I just choose some Race Relation Wheels wheels so I didn't have the TRD Pro wheels. That's about all I could do. I'm pretty carbon-copy looking, but because of functionality not just form.

    MUCH more tire choices with 17”.

    Economies of scale also means they’re usually cheaper.

    they are slightly cheaper both wheel and tire. Partially the reason I did go with 17”. I actually just ordered a set of 17”Ultra Nemesis black w/milled accents. Should be here by end of next week. :turtleride::yes:
