Anyone had any experience with this one? It's slightly different in design from the OEM one. Biggest difference I see is at the front mounts where the OEM has double bars coming down to the roof, this one only has one. Both appear to be constructed from aluminum and powder coated... I'm curious about this one, because it's advertised weight capacity is 250 lbs, while I think the OEM one says 130lbs? It's quite a bit cheaper too... anyone bought one?

Thanks. They are quite common on ebay with positive reviews. I know that doesn't mean much, but it's temping.... especially if it can hold 2x the weight.

Go for it and report back with your impressions. Might help a few other members on the fence about an aftermarket pro rack.

Well, IMO that's fugly, but to each his own there.

Structurally, there is no reason that rack could support any more weight than the OEM rack, so I would just assume they can both hold the same amount of weight, which may or may not be what Toyota says.. because those weight figures are probably very lawyer-influenced.

Finally, OE racks, while, sure, are "gently used," go for not much more than that. But I get that if you don't want to search, wait, etc.. it's nice to have a new, ready to buy option. IMHO though, that isn't the one. If you really like the looks of the OEM Pro rack, I suggest trying to find a used one for sale, or reach out to dealers and try to get a new one for ~$600 shipped.

Oh, and also.. sadly I don't think you can really trust internet reviews anymore. People have finally found ways through technology to cheat the system and provide fake reviews for their products. Sometimes it's obvious, other times they've tried hard to make it appear legit.

If ebay stuff, beware of rust in 1-2 years, in this day and age, you get what you pay for.
I like the looks, probably less wind noise, however, either go buy the real deal (they show up on this forum from time to time) or buy from a reputable manufacturer, aluminum, etc.
I got the nfab one to have my sunroof unobstructed and still be a bit different. (https://n-fab.com/modular-roof-rack)
As for the advertised weight limit, be VERY aware of stationary (static) weight and "in motion" (dynamic) weight. I would take the 250lb with a grain of salt, like a spoonful.

The OEM(PRO) roof rack is rated for 110 pounds total load per Toyota, and, per Toyota that weight limit includes mounting point - the roof - too. Not advising you on what to do, or what not to do. Just passing information.

    Thanks for all the replies.
Both racks claim to be aluminum powder coated... so rusting shouldn't be a concern.

I agree the OEM rack is the safest bet. No used ones available in my area right now. I'll probably wait for one to show up. Not ready to drop $600 on one.... I also agree internet reviews mean nothing these days, which was why I came here.

Just wondering, why not save up a little bit more and buy a CNC rack? They have a lot more to offer.

I like the open raised aspect of the OEM Pro rack. Seems it would be much easier to clean the roof. Those low profile platform style racks probably are more functional, but appear to be a bit more cumbersome to clean under. I live in a rural wooded area. Thr tops of our vehicles need cleaning constantly due to dust, leaves, sap ect. I know it's controversial here, but I personally like the look of the Pro rack.

Be prepared, even the Pro rack is a PITA to clean around! :) Still dig mine, though. Can't imagine cleaning under a GOBI heh.. but I still kinda want one.

Agree. Cleaning is especially easy, comparably. Nothing against other styles, because many are required for a specific use, but the PRO rack has covered all the bases for me, to this point.
