What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

I tried 3 different mufflers to make it quiet. The Gibson a Magnaflow and finally a SUV series Flowmaster. The FM sounded quietest inside then a baffle broke and rattled like crazy. Any one riding with us would comment “is there a hole in your exhaust “ Got tired of it and sourced a good used factory take off. In my opinion the V6 motor needs to remain quiet.

 

Most systems sound "ricey" to me. The only one I personally like is the Borla. I installed a Borla muffler on mine and it's just right to me. Personal taste I suppose.

 

Probably, it liked interesting. I guess I should have looked it up in YouTube to see what others thought about it.

 

I got a free 28" light bar and wanted to make it yellow. Bought a 2"x30" Lamin-x strip and put two layers on the light. Next up is trying to squeeze it in the upper grill.

Finished installing my dual ARB compressor setup yesterday with the M.O.R.E. Compressor mount. Did a couple test runs with my pneumatic tools and it does great. Delivers quite the punch of air.

I also got my lil b’s front bumper in. I will probably install that next weekend and then show pictures.

The 4Runner is coming together. I brought my 4Runner down and had the company that installed my gears take a test drive with me and he informed me the car is good. The gear whine I am hearing is from the 5 cut process vs. the 2 cut and they sometimes have issues. He ordered another ring and pinion to replace it before I leave but he ensured me the car is good and educated me on the fact that I only hear the gears whine at certain speeds and if something wasn’t set right I would hear it at all speeds. The company also took care of everything that went wrong and did right by me in my eyes. I will recant my prior post on them and say they showed exceptional customer service taking care of everything. Granted the issues that happened were frustrating they sympathized and took care of it.

 

Clazzio genuine leather seat covers, front and back. Quality stuff. I like these more than the Coverking leatherette I put in my previous vehicle, and they really weren’t significantly more in price for the genuine be leather version.

Added some new decals to help those divers that may be struggling out there.

Drove up to the mountains and I’ve never been up there when a storm is rolling in. Driving through the clouds was absolutely amazing. The view was absolutely unavailable anything more than 10’ in front of you. And if you’ve never been inside a cloud it is freezing in them.

 

Don’t beat yourself up man, i know how it feels. I did a couple good ones on ours right after getting it, but hey shit happens.

 

Did you take the rails off or did you wrap them mounted? If you left them on did you take the crossbars off before wrapping, just loosen them so you could move them around while wrapping or just leave them and wrap around them. I've had the material to wrap mine here since the fall but have been waiting for warm weather to do mine.

 

This was just the test fit. I am going to bring it to the powder coaters Tuesday to have them paint the bumper and skid plate. This is without the skid plate. Installed and all.

Hm... Looking interesting. Did you have to cut the lower grill free from the sensor or is it something that pops out of the grill? I've been thinking about that lately.

 

Did a little driving

 

I took the rails off. It was really easy, plus it was pretty warm out and I didn’t want to stand in the sun for hours.

I popped the plastic covers off and then removed the cross bars first. That way I could remove the side rails individually instead of the whole rack. One tip I read was to loosen the mounting bolts evenly per corner. I did a half turn each until I could remove the bolts by hand. Apparently if you take one bolt out while the other is tight, the insert that they thread into could fall into the roof.

Once the side rails were off I took the ends off of the rails, it’s two screws per side of the rail. Taking it down to the individual rail made wrapping them very easy. I did at at my kitchen table and used a hair dryer for heat.

 

I cut off the grill around it.

Perfect time to upgrade the bumper to a steel bumper. Then the next time it happens it won’t matter or at least you won’t be fixing the car but instead the object you run into.

 

I de-chromed that silly little chrome strip on either side of my T logo with Vvivid carbon fiber vinyl wrap. My first experience with wrap. A little tricky on the angled ends. Works for now, but will definitely give it another go next weekend. Before and after:

 

Jealous. Being from the Midwest, a simple drive like that isn’t easily had. Vacationed to Scottsdale, AZ recently. Rented a Tahoe to get around. I felt... inadequate. Totally envious of all the 4Runners we saw. Has me thinking hard about making the 1,800 mile drive to play in the sand in my own 4Runner.

 

Discovered this today. Only 4,500 miles, on-road only so far. No idea how or when it happened. Any guesses if the warranty will cover it?

Received my winch and bumper... a project to get done before heading to CO in July for a family reunion.... lots of trail riding..

 

Yea I don’t usually have any time from work, but the pipeline is kind of slow right now. So all the bosses on our spread are rotating out and everyone’s taking a turn getting a month off. Coming from Wv was 1800 ish miles also and boy was it rough with the 3 kids. But so far it’s been worth it. Just kinda sucks not having anyone out here to run with

 

I don’t see the GMRS. But I am trying to figure out what pistol is mounted to your console. And how.

 

They might. I am not wanting to be the bearer of bad news but I wouldn’t hold your breath on it. They don’t want to pay anything out if they don’t have to. More than likely they will tell you it wasn’t a manufacturing defect and it is on you to replace. However, as my dad always says. It never hurts to ask. Worst is they say no

I would usually agree. However there is no paint damage & it appears as if the fixture was dropped @ some point.
I may start with saying there is something wrong with my NEW vehicle. Dealerships don't want problems or small things going to corporate.
