Are any of you guys rocking the Hefty Fabworks skid plates? I am interested in their front "engine" skid but am not finding much info at all out there. I was able to find one thread that discussed their earlier version but they definitely made some major changes at some point.

I am interested because I want aluminum and I want something that looks beefy. I really like the CBI look, but CBI appears weaker despite the coverage, plus their shipping cost is insane. Also considering RCI, but meh, and M.O.R.E..

    - What is the point of that raised box area toward the rear of the skid, in the middle? Does that sit against the cross-member so that I can use that area of the skid plate to jack up the vehicle? I believe there is a stock "jack point" somewhere near there from the factory.
    - Do these skids need to be coated or are they OK to go out of the box? Website states "5052 Aluminum Alloy - Raw Unfinished, Mill Grade, Lightly DA sanded for finish application." I don't need them to look like fine china, but that description makes me feel like they need a finish application.

    Installed pics would be great!

I did call Hefty Fab to ask these questions, but got an answering machine.

    Thanks!

I ordered the complete skid plate package.

I'm pretty sure the box is an access plate.

Finish application means they are ready for painting or powder coating process.
I should have mine in in a couple of weeks

I do not like the slick, or smooth look, but it does look like a well built skid. I would go over it with some 220 grit, then some Mothers and call it a day. Here is a pic. of the one i did, but will replace soon.
