I will soon be purchasing a 2021 4R/ORP. I want to change the tires to use the B.F. Goodrich All-Terrain KO2 as I currently have on my 2010 F.J. Cruiser.
I've seen at least two photos on this Forum showing late model 4R's using this tire. And they did not look lifted.
But if you go to the B.F. Goodrich website they say this tire won't fit a 2021. ???

Can anyone clarify this ? I've owned three sets of these tires and would like to keep using them.
    Thanks for any help.

    Feel free to ask
What size KO2’s are we talking about here?

You can use them. Non-TRD Pro 4Runners come from the factory with H/T's. Also, all 4Runners come with P(assenger) rated tires. K02 does not come in P rated, but that doesn't mean you can't use them.

Thanks for the replies. It took me a while to find the standard tire size for the 2021 LOL Appears to be 265/70R17. I would just be replacing with the same size tire. Can't imagine why I couldn't use them ?

The tire world likes for you to replace like with like, so typically one would not suggest an LT tire for your 4Runner which came with a P tire. That's all that's going on here. Since we are enthusiasts, and want to "mod" our truck, we go with an A/T tread, and often even replace the "guts" of the tire with LT versus P. It's OK to do, but the tire world wants you to know what you're doing.. and that it won't feel or ride the same anymore.

265/70/17 or even 275/70/17, you should be good to go without a lift.

I want to do the exact same thing....I just bought a 2021 ORP...one question though, what should/could I do with the other tires? I don’t want them and don’t really want the hassle of trying to sell them. Tire shops don’t trade tires do they? Thanks!

Some shops have taken used tires towards the cost of new ones in the past. I don’t know which, if any, are still doing it, would depend on condition of your current tires, but don’t expect to get much for them if they do.

Alternative would be either keep them as a extra set or give them away if you don’t want to bother selling them.

No issues what so ever with BFG KO2 LT265/70R17 Load C at stock height on my 2017 SR5. It looks really good. Should be no issues with 2021 ORP.

Thanks again guys. Buying the 21' ORP next month in Magnetic Grey Metallic like this photo. At first I was going to order some TRD accessories and do some simple mods like black wheels, rock rails, front bumper, etc. But I changed my mind after seeing this photo of what appears to be a newer stock ORP owned by one of our Forum members. It looks like the only change made was adding the BFG's to the stock rims - with the white letters outward. I think this looks really good. Seems that just the tire change created a much upgraded look. Maybe the owner of this 4R will see this Thread and chime in.

By the way, does the lower, center front bumper plastic cover look like it's been painted body color rather than the stock silver color ? Maybe it's just the camera angle ?

That is @Chris In Milwaukee 's "Cheese Runner" https://www.4runners.com/threads/chris-in-milwaukees-cheeserunner-build.13234/

Looks like he painted his front valence black, like many of the TRD OR guys do (gives it the Venture look ;-) ).

So what did you use for paint and were you happy enough with the results to use it again?

YEA !! Glad you came on Chris. You too kouki. And you're right, the black does in fact look better than the silver. Good idea since I don't plan/need a winch/bumper. Did you use flat black or something else ?

    Thanks again guys.

I cheesed out with PlastiDip. Easy peasy and forgiving. Also used the gloss overcoat, but it’s not super glossy. Helps a bit with durability to have a few extra layers.
