Hitch Covers

Guy stopped me today and asked why I "put a Bronco hitch cover on a 4Runner?" I explained that this was a buckin' bull on a 4Runner Ol'son. #Knowyourrodeo

I would like to know what anybody does to keep it from rusting. I just saw a 2020 model with rust starting. Nice new rig and hitch rust.

If you use it it'll get worn and expose metal for rust to form. I just keep it touched up with a bit of Rustoleum every now and then so it doesn't look bad. The exterior of the receiver shouldn't be rusty if the factory paint is holding up.

 

My one helps others to leave a little gap at the parking lot..

 

It will rust no matter what, especially if you live in a snow area. I cleaned up mine really well to take the gunk out and then I put in any type of grease. It will get washed away, I do it 1-2 times a year. I keep a hitch in there just for those following too close

When I went down to Marin County, CA. for my annual car buddies reunion, my buddy backs up to the 'Runner, covers the hitch with his leg and says "Ya outta cover this when yer down here." LOL!
