My Slimline bumper has shipped from Victory.
I need to find a winch next.
The one I'm looking at is the Smittybilt X20. I'll use
a winch 4-6 times a year to help move trees off my road and if I, hopefully not,
slide off the road.....so I don't need Warn level.

I ask because of some fitment issues I've read about with the Ironman winch.

Also if anyone can quickschool me on the X20 and mounting the solenoid/placement
    I'd appreciate it.

Solenoid on the side instead of center. This should save more space. It will go top of motor. Remove silver mounting hardware and directly on winch.

Thanks! So no need to move it into the engine bay.

    Feel free to ask
Have a longer Phillips head handy for securing the screws that hold the solenoid in place when side mounting.

Also, check the clearance of the solenoid and AC line to make sure it won’t rub. You can carefully push on the AC line to move it if you need to.

One more question, since the slimline bumper is in route I've not laid eyes.
Will I need to get a winch mounting plate or am I crazy thinking the Victory slimline might have once incorporated.

Is this the bumper you ordered?

    If so, you’re covered.

Go to their site - click on 'builds'

Scroll down to 4RUNNER look for recovery

    RECOVERY
VR8 Warn Winch - it fits without modding.
    Steel is $500.00 / Synthetic $700.00 from 4Wheel Parts.

If memory serves me they used the same in their Tundra build, too.

Sure does help. Appreciate you guiding me there. I've been to their site many times but never even noticed builds.
Now the Warn used in the Tacoma was for the full on front replacement bumper; they used a Warn Zeon 10s with Relocation Kit with t
    the Slimline bumper.
The Warn in question is the VR8 and with synthetic is about $75 more than the SB x20 with synthetic.
I think I'll just write Victory and see if they've ever put the SB in and any issues had.
Honestly I hope to only use the winch on the monthly spool out and in for maintenance, but primarily as an insurance policy. A neighbor just down
the road went off road accidentally when he hit ice and his bumper winch got him out, so I'm motivated since I drive the same road weekly.
So either winch would do I'm sure. I'll just choose the one with the least installation headaches.

My wife bought a Smittybilt for me, and stored it until my birthday. Warranty was bout gone when she gave it to me. Was gone by the time I had installed it. Many problems with it, in and out, in and out. Not much fun needing to remove it to troubleshoot it.
We went and purchased a lower priced Warn, similar specs as the Smittybilt. I trust it and it has been used many times with not one issue.

I use my smittybilt 1-2 times a year, my use did not justify the price of a warn, but I have zero issues out of mine.

    Appreciate all the replies/opinions.
I don't know why I fret over $100 when I ordered a bajarack, dobinson drawers, this bumper and this week a sound company is replacing all
    speakers....human nature is funny.

Right now I'm leaning strongly to the VR8/VR12 since fit is confirmed above.

That is my driveway/yard 3+ months of the year. Great taste in 4Runner color too.

Haha this unusual snowfall for nyc it’s been 6/7 years since this big one hit us last week
But my vr12 is a bit of overkill I’ve only used it a couple of times it’s stronger then I really need but got it at a big sale price so went for it

Well I tell why I like the VR8, 50 pounds! and still plenty strong. Coupled with the aluminum bumper (no crawling/hopping) and I don't have to mess with
springs. I just wish I could afford a double swing away aluminum rear bumper but Hefty is mighty mighty proud. When I get to the rear I'm going Ultraswing
    most likely.

    Victory slimline arrived yesterday.
Just ordered Warn vr8-s EVO and a 20 inch light bar.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
I frequently use an old yellow tow strap to pull downed trees with my Nissan Frontier and 4Runner.
I have Warn VR10 on the 4Runner and still will go to the strap 1st before the winch.

Using the strap is significantly faster than using the winch.

If I were you, I'd go Warn over Shittybuilt.
