Magnaflow overland series

Wonder why magnaflow did not run the exhaust tail pipe straight out the back? Does anyone think it would have been better.

The overland series is made up & outta the way for rock crawlers so you don't bash the tail pipe. I only bought it for the "no drone" thing.
They have a system that runs straight back but does not come with the drone can. Last I talked to them they said they will expand selections with swappable mufflers and different tail pipes. Just a guess many are asking for that??

 

I grabbed the 1/2" drive and its fine, not sure what's wrong with the 3/8". I'm thinking about a rebuild kit but ticks me off as it's new.. bought a year or so ago, just never used

Hmm I get why they chopped the tip like that, but I wonder about soot/exhaust build-up on the frame/body right there where it dumps. Probably not a big deal especially for a truck.

So I get that it's low profile, but I've also never heard of exhaust clearance issues on the 4Runner..

Seems like it sounds good, so that's a plus! Maybe better in the sound/drone dept. than the TRD Pro exhaust?

I wonder if it makes any power. Maybe 5 hp at the engine if lucky?

Not necessary.. I'm not concerned about it. Just pointing out that it must not be a common or serious issue, or I would have seen someone talk about it by now..

Now I have seen someone talk about the TRD Pro exhaust tip being crushed up into the side/fender.. but that's obviously a different topic since it's not the "stock" system either, and is obviously not designed for function but rather form.

I'm sure someone has managed to make an issue of the stock exhaust.. I'm sure the Magnaflow is designed with clearance in mind.. but I think you missed the point.

What's not "stock" about the TRD Pro exhaust?

 

I had the same issues you stated in you initial post. I used a torque wrench but it was a cheap one I got at NAPA. I guess I need to get a better torque wrench and try again!

 

Has anyone captured the weight of the Magnaflow Overland vs. TRD vs. non-TRD OE?

I'm trying to come to grips with the unplanned expense around "fixing" the TRD exaust. Translation, I'm looking for all the possible benefits of the various alternatives.
