    Hey all,
Has anyone removed and painted their stock non-trd skid plate? I have a 2021 venture (KDSS) and just curious.

And I'm totally aware of the weathering and scraping it will endure. Not looking to drop $ on a new one at this time either. Just wanting to know if anyone has gone through the process and if you have pics.

    Thanks!

There’s no reason you wouldn’t be able to, it’s easy enough to pull off and do. Plasti dip it to the color of your choice, if you don’t like peel the coating off and try again until you find one you like. Then rattle can paint it.

Does the front bumper have to come off to remove the skid plate?

Nope! 4 bolts, then you have to wiggle it out. The front can be a pain because of the valence like cover behind the bumper which can be taken off if needed. Just make sure you put it back on before driving again as it leaves the oil housing exposed.

Thanks! I saw that plastic valence you're talking about! Does it have to be removed? I'd rather just leave it in there if I can wiggle this thing out.

I just wiggle the skid plate out usually, sometimes it’s more difficult than other times.

If I'm not mistaken the little plastic valence is held in by a few 10 or 12 mm bolts. I took mine off for every oil change. It only takes a minute and might make things easier.

Depending on the color you want, Rustoleum makes a spray can bed liner that might hold up better than regular spray paint. I used it on my bumper and it's been holding up well.

Thank you!! This helps a lot! I'll definitely look into it! I have a couple different ideas for color or colors and we'll see if they have them.

It looks like they have black, tan, and clear. You could always clear over a different color of your choice.
