5th Gen remote start options

Having a hard time finding a remote start solution for my 2018 ORP. I want to use the existing key fob without an additional remote. Any suggestions? Spoke to Car Toys and they suggest Compustar system, another shot suggested Viper. But with Viper they say I can only start the car and nothing else, including unlocking the doors. So I’m kinda stuck.

IMHO, I just can’t accept that the remote start must shut the 4Runner off when you open the door to get in. Does not justify the investment to me.

 

The product in the above link does not shut the vehicle off.

 

My bad, I read this and must have misunderstood “...The parking lights will remain on to let you know the vehicle is running. Once you are ready to drive simply unlock the truck with the remote and open the door. Your vehicle will shut off upon opening the door - just jump in, restart and go!” From here:

I second the Accessorides device. It works well and is an easy installation.

No worries - not sure why it says your vehicle will shut off upon opening the door as this snip is from the same link

 

With the Accessorides unit, the engine will shut off if you touch the brakes, but not when the door opens.

I’m really torn between accessorides and 12 volt solutions, both shut off when opening the door on their push button start kits.

 

I will say this, the 12v people are fantastic and really take good care of their customers.

 

It seems like they are more or less that same kit, but the accessorides is cheaper. I have a 12 volt solution kit on my Highlander and I’ve already had an issue with it because of the harness being not the greatest quality.

 

I’ve had mine from Steve since I purchased my 4Runner. You can request different run times etc... Great guy and will back his products 100%.

I am happy with the Accessorides version in my 2020. Install was fairly easy and straightforward. Hoping to add the cellphone module, waiting on those black Friday deals. With the key start, the truck doesn't turn off when you open the door.

 

I'll echo the praise for the Accessorides. Was sitting on my shelf for a few weeks and figured screw it, video makes it look real easy. 45 minutes later I was done. 100% satisfied. My wife nor myself have ever owned a vehicle with remote start so it took a lot of effort to not just look out the window while on my couch and start the truck for absolutely no reason.

Does anyone have the directions that came with the Accessoride kit? I'm looking for specifically the programming instructions.

Very much appreciated but they finally got back to me after a couple of days and emailed me the directions. They forgot to put the sheet in the box. I’ll try installing it this weekend.

Can anyone confirm whether factory remote/keyless entry works with these products? I want to be able to start the car and then not have to get the key fob out again in order to unlock it and preferably only have to carry a single fob (be it the factory or aftermarket). Don’t care about the engine shutting off when the door is opened.

 

I have the accessorides for my 2021 4Runner. The factory remote works for the remote start. And yes the factory fob works for allowing you to open the door by proximity.
