I'm new to 4Runners and just realized that my 2020 Venture doesn't have a rear valence! So I guess this is just an SR5 rear bumper?

    Another dis for the Ventures...

Thinking about adding one.. someone said the rear bumper has the template "built in." Can anyone confirm?

Ventures indeed have the SR5 bumper. Are you saying you want to add the black bumper cap from the Pro?

I guess that's a good excuse to upgrade to a steel / aluminum rear bumper with spare tire mount, gas can holders, maxtrax and hi lift jack mount..

Sigh. A little annoyed over here.

I'm guessing the photo you posted, @Red_5 , is from some "official" Toyota function? Clearly that vehicle (Venture) has a color-matched rear valence.. which is what I thought my vehicle had.

Also, check this.. https://pressroom.toyota.com/dare-to-explore-toyota-4runner-venture-edition-new-for-2020/ If you look closely at the photo of the rear of the Venture, there is clearly some additional valence back there. But I'm sure that there is some fine print in there somewhere saying "prototype model shown" etc. etc. B.S. as usual. Man, I hate.. people.

My Venture has nothing back there. Just a plain ol SR5 bumper.

Oh well, I suppose that's on me for not being even more OCD than I already am, shoulda gone over the truck with a fine-toothed comb before buying it. I already get enough looks when I look over my vehicle for 5 minutes post-service, before touching it.

Just wanted to point that out to other potential Venture buyers...

Lol, just looked at some pictures of the Ventures. What a STRANGE thing for Toyota to have excluded from the Venture package, since it does look like the front gets the ORP's chinstrap. Maybe they felt it looked too busy in the back with that big ridiculous spoiler and all the black badging.

lol yup. This might sound stupid but it took me a while to realize that my 20 venture did not have the rear valance. I did not pay attention during delivery or for a month or two after delivery either and just assumed that with the front black valance the rear would be there too I guess.
Just out of curiosity have you looked at the shift knob??

Yep, good point, it also doesn't get the TRD Shift Knob, but instead gets the regular SR5 shift knob. I did actually notice that immediately upon our test drive.. but didn't really care (I replaced it with something better, IMO, anyway). So lame, Toyota. They are some serious penny-pincers over there lmao.

Did y’all really not know you got an sr5 with wheels and a roof basket?

    It’s basically an appearance package.

Not really, it's really a TRD ORP with an appearance package on top. Shares the same crawl, locking differential, multi-terrain select, seats as on the TRD ORP and Pro models ... minus the rear valance of course.

So, we're upset that Toyota didn't included the bumper valence from one trim on another trim? Who cares?

The person at Toyota who decides what options and trims go on what models is a sick bastard. Probably seriously deranged as well.

Not upset. Just lil odd for a model that's based on ORP for everything else that it's missing the rear valance and the shift knob. I wouldn't mind finding out what was the logic behind the decision. That's all.

Maybe just for the purpose of distinguishing it from the off-road? :notsure:

    Or, it was cheaper. :D

    :(
I think TRD ORD on 2020/2021 doesn’t have A-trac since I try to compare two different trim in Toyota build and price page . Maybe only in Canada :(?

All 4WD 4Runners come with ATRAC. Doesn't matter if it's a base SR5, an OR or the Limited.

I’ll check hers tonight and see but I’m almost certain it has the black on front, door handles, mirror, lift gate spoiler, and rear valence.

I stand corrected. She sent me a pic and sure enough it’s the sr5. Oh well.

I see your point now. Yes, I would be annoyed by this too. I really like the Venture. Shopped them pretty hard, but ultimately found a dealer offering an incredible deal on an OPR, so I bought that instead.

I'd still like to have that black spoiler, though...

Ahem, that's an SR5 *Premium* plus wheels and a basket, thank you!

I guess I was simply convinced, by Toyota's website and marketing, that I was getting a TRD OR with a few extra bells and whistles. I'm new to trucks so when I decided to make the switch, comparing the trims (ESPECIALLY on Toyota's...) and trying to figure out what options were worth it, necessary, cool, etc. was a bit of a bear. Between "rear lockers," skid plates, different suspension, etc. etc., I suppose an off-road rear valence (something I'd actually like because I beat on my new truck in the woods a bit) was small enough to fly under my radar.

Technically on me for not noticing all the details but I'm still here to bitch about it. :) I do think it's a little shady on Toyota's part, but I also think about 99% of marketing is shady so...

That's simply not true. The Venture is mechanically identical to a TRD Off-Road, with its locker, MTS, and Crawl Control. And you can get it with KDSS, which is only available on ORs. An SR5 rear bumper and shifter aren't a big deal.

I quote the official Toyota PR I linked earlier in the thread...

So even they say it's "based" on the TRD OR.. whatever that means lol. Yeah, it ditches more than just that badge, Toyota...

This was certainly true of the 2020 Venture that I test drove this past summer! I didn't notice the rear bumper, but mechanically it was clearly an OR but added TRD wheels and a roof basket. I was actually going to get one but then my wife really wanted leather etc., and when I test drove the Limited I realized I really like it and it was better suited to our use anyway.

Hmm maybe I should have measured the axle's too to make sure they're the same as the TRD axles... can't assume anything these days!
    But the name is cool!

Seriously though, I'm sensing some Venture hate here lol. Is that a thing?

Boys!! We made it!! We're hated on!! TRD Pro Jr. BABAYYYY!!

Yessir I, too, simply went for whichever trim I could get the better deal on, since they're basically the same thing. Still, obviously paid a tiny bit more for the Venture than I would have a TRDOR, thinking I got more.

    Lol.

Bottom line is the TRD Pro rear valance can be added and is a pretty straightforward mod if one so desires.
