    Hello!

I am buying a present for my boyfriend who has a 2020 4-Runner TRD Pro. One of the things he has mentioned wanting is a portable batter/jump that we can take with us on hiking/backpacking/long trips to use in emergency situations. I'm not sure where to start looking and would appreciate any recommendations anyone may have about products that would work for a 2020 4 Runner they have tried and tested!

So far, I watched this video from another thread and am thinking about the Audew multi-function jump starter? https://youtu.be/JN8A2nIMUWA

After reading a lot of reviews I also got the Audew. I haven’t needed it yet, but it’s good to have for helping others without having to drag out your jumper cables.
As the others said, wait for deals if you have the time. I saved $30 on Prime day.

Finally, a jumper box that can start my 6.0 Powerstroke and 5.9 Cummins & still be used in the spring & fall for equipment. This is awesome!
    Thanks for the information.
Sorry to the O.P. not trying to hijack.

We can spend lots of money for you. Lol What else would he like?
I am just kidding; that is a very thoughtful gift. I know he will be happy!

I recommend the Audew. Used it a number of times and it works great.

After reviewing the video in the OP's first post I also ordered the Audew! Purchased directly from their website after the Prime deal was gone and still got it for the Prime price (around $65).

How did you manage to get the $65 price? Audew.com has it listed for $99.99...

Immediately after the Prime deal was off I checked their website. See attached for confirmation.

Yup. Picked one up for the son-in-law, and decided to add one for me later:

Amazon.com: DBPOWER 800A 18000mAh Portable Car Jump Starter (up to 7.2L Gas, 5.5L Diesel Engine) Battery Booster with Smart Charging Port (Black/Red): Automotive

I purchased this one about a year ago and I would never buy it again. It has failed to jump start several vehicles over the past year. My Tundra, 4Runner and my Jeep JK. I have a work vehicle that I drive most of the time but I either start them or drive these vehicles during the weekends etc. Sometimes the battery will get low and this has failed to jump start them. A few times I walked into my work and grabbed the portable jump starter and that one worked while this model did not. I would shy away from this one if possible even though it has good reviews on Amazon.

That was one of the units reviewed in the video in post #1, and didn't fare well compared to some of the others.

It's very similar, but here is the one tested in the video:
DBPOWER 2000A 20800mAh Portable Car Jump Starter (up to 8.0L Gas/6.5L Diesel Engines) Auto Battery Booster Pack.

    Mine was this:
DBPOWER 600A 18000mAh Portable Car Jump Starter (up to 6.5L Gas, 5.2L Diesel Engine) Battery Booster and Phone Charger with Smart Charging Port (Black/Red)

Subtle differences, just wanted to put out my experience with the 600A one in case someone was looking at it.

Sorry, missed that, thanks for the clarification. I just remembered the brand. If the 2000A one in the review didn't test very well, it stands to reason the 600A version wouldn't either, no?

For the one I own, it worked about 2/3 of the time but I carry it mainly for off-road trips and that wasn't good enough for me. The DB version tested ranked 3rd in the testing so not great but I can't personally speak of it performs.

I live in a large city so being able to get a jump start is not that hard. But, when I'm on an off-road trip I want reliability first, size/cost second. To add to my recent posts, my charger would not jump my Jeep when the battery was at 11.5v. That is not too low in my opinion so I'm looking for a different jumper.

I used to jump 5 cars on a road without issues. It also acts like a battery in case your battery toasted, you leave it on and drive home. I would consider 2nd battery if I am doing camping /off-road often.
