2021 TRD Pro Grille

I just installed these from R4T on my SR5. I was also impressed with the fit and finish of these, fast shipping too.

 

I'd be interested in knowing what you think about the bar overlay, as far as fitment, and any gaps there might be on the end(s). Let us know, thanks.

 

Will do! The bar & grill arrive on 10/15, but I don't get my new 4Runner until 10/20 now. I'll post photos out of the box and then as soon as I get the new 4Runner I'll install and share feedback/pictures of the final result here.

Correct, I just got the standard gray.

But, as soon as I could (900mi) I slapped Nitto G2s and haven't looked back. I off road (5/10 difficulty and below) every other weekend and drive it occasionally to work and back.

 

Hey all, starting this today. Package arrived early!

Below are photos on garnish and grille, backside of garnish (where screw holes are) and front side of my baby.

 

Tips:
- punch the holes with a 1/8" bit. They say use 3/16", but that way you don't have too much looseness for those who are artistically special
- place garnish face down on towel while screwing and mounting
- insert giggity anywhere in the above statements

Did you drill the holes ? Mine came with dimples.

 

Absolutely I drilled the holes. The screws go in to the letters, not the garnish. This way the letters were guaranteed straight. I don't trust my shakey hands haha

Great tips!
- Where did they say to use 3/16"? I'll take your advice on the 1/8"
- Do you have any giggity concerns about the letters coming loose or twisting?
- How do you feel about the quality? My OCD is having a hard time with a few things, but I don't really have anything else to compare it to so other aftermarket grills could be the exact same.

As much as I would have loved to buy OEM it's not really in the budget right now so I'm hoping it ends up installing flush and without gaps on the side.

 

I reached it to them a couple days back. I knew there weren't instructions involved. So I figured I would take the "dumbass with questions" title fall for all of us.

- not at all. them screws be tight. if the letters don't lay flat (don't be tooooooo perfectionist) trim the mounts with a safety knife, or check your holes (giggity). you may need to clean them up.
- the quality is great. there's a dimple in the y, but even from 3 ft back, it looks really good for 1/2 the price.

My install is tomorrow or Saturday,so time will tell. Remember, part of gap issue for some is the 3m tape, so don't forget to leave your t4r in the sun to warm up the bumper before adding garnish. it'll allow the tape to squish. And make sure the tape goes almost all the way to the edge!

Oh man I remember that wait... I lined up so many projects that I started to worry I was gonna have to build a car just for the parts hahaha

 

So, update.

I went to install the upper grille and only the outer screws fit.

In the photo (OEM bottom, TacoVinyl top):
- the red screw mounts are set too low; the radiator support that you reattach can't reach
- the blue screw mounts can't reach either

I'll be looking for screws and spacers. But for now, I can't recommend the grille.

Garnish I have yet to mount.

 

Ouch, that's super disappointing. I'm actually going to reach out to them. Honestly, if the letters were meant to screw in, I'd expect the holes to have been punched already, then this on top of it... smh

 

The letters are no biggie. Takes no work, really. But the mounting being off, I'm gonna have to buy spacers and longer screws.

 

I don't know how long they've been making them for but you'd think someone else would have shared that feedback ‍♀️. Just trying to help him going forward ya know.

So I ended up cutting the grille to fit. It's not perfect, so I'll be ordering the grille elsewhere.

 

Sigh.... I was worried about that. Sorry to lead y'all down the wrong path, he's probably still figuring things out. Thanks so much for sharing your experience and the helpful photos. Really grateful to have found this forum for situations like this. Since I haven't even started putting it together I'm going to see if there's any way they'll let me return it or reship a grill that's cut correctly.
