Just bought 2020 TRDORP, do I have remote start or not??

Hey all!

Super excited with my new rig. Coming from Wrangler Unlimited this is so much better... in my opinion. Anyway, I thought I had remote start, I click the lock button three times and hold on the third... lights flash for a second but no start. I called the Dealer, they don't think it has it but can't tell for sure.. what? Do I have it or do I need to buy an aftermarket?

Thanks! Also, I can't find any TRD wheels. What are your thoughts on aftermarket off of eBay from California?

 

Don't believe you can get it on the Off Road.

And just me but if you are going to spend money on rims why just get the factory TRDs?

 

The are not selling factory TRD wheels due to shortages. I prefer to have those, in either gray or black. So, Off Road doesn't have remote start?

 

I'm not 100% on the remote start.

What I meant why pay for TRD rims and knock offs that look the same. There is tons of aftermarket ones out there that look better.

True, I am finding replicas for a set around $550-$650. Are they safe? seems like a dumb question but just want to be safe with my kids and wife. Or at least the kids! Just kidding

yep, that is the one I am looking at right now!

 

I ordered OEM TRD gloss gunmetal wheel from BAM Wholesalers parts and it was shipped out. Give them a try if you are set on TRD wheels. EB Toyota parts also hade matte grey and black in stock as of last Friday but they did mention that gloss grey was not going to be available anytime soon.

 

I installed this one...pretty straight forward and has been working well. Also got the Cell phone module which is cool

Just FYI, factory remote start only on 2020 Limiteds and Pros in the US. In Canada, the TRDORP gets remote start, automatic climate control, and auto headlights (?)

 

Ugh... why do they do that the Tacoma gets all of those options. Dang it! I'll just buy what you posted there and be done with it. I never cared about remote start until my last car had it... I used it all the time!

 

Has anyone had the Drone remote start installed? the dealership I went through is offering this for $649 installed. Best buy has the product for $149, but its difficult to tell if it's actually the same and not sure what they charge for installment. Any remote starts added and places to have them installed in MN that anyone can recommend? 2020 TRD OR Premium.

 

No remote start in my ORP. I was expecting the same features as my Taco TRD OR, but nope.

Having realized this before buying, I probably would’ve looked harder at an SR5.

 

I saw a youtube video where the ORP had remote start, some have, some do not, unless ordered that way. It's kind of a hit or miss deal. As far as the wheels, you could try Marquardt Toyota in Eau Claire, Wis.

also i can start it from the app on my phone
they say it is tied with the audio system unit, so if you have Toyota connect, you have it

 

For remote start I believe you need the Entune Audio Plus or Entune Premium Audio.

I believe to have the remote start you need to have the JBL audio system. My 2020 AG Pro has it. I’m pretty sure about that what I found on you tube.

 

My 2020 TRD OR has remote start as a standard feature. Of course it was a Canadian purchase.

 

My vehicle description says Smart Key System with remote start. But I haven’t tried it. Will do!

 

Apparently , US models do not have remote start but are setup for it if you have the premium audio.

 

Correct as far as I can tell. Can press lock 2x and lock 3rd time and hold with no effect. At least my 13 year old f150 has it. Lol

 

Mine has remote start through the app. It shuts off after 10 min or when the door is opened.

 

I just tried the 3 push on the lock button on my 2020 pro and it starts. I also tried it on my daughters 2020 off road premium and it does not work. I learned something new!

 

Does the engine shut off when a door is opened with the OEM or aftermarket remote start?

 

The OEM shuts off when you open the door.

 

I sure like the black TRD PRO rims we put on ours. Worth searching for.
