My wife's 2003 (8 cyl, SR5, 2WD, auto) has a drip of unidentified oil coming off a rubber hose, in front of the engine compartment.
I presume the hose is deteriorating.

The hose is attached to a ~3/8" metal line that goes from one side of the vehicle to the other side. The hose proceeds horizontally, and takes a 90° bend downwards, to attach to another metal line. There is an identical one on the other side.

I am thinking ATF line but have not located a diagram or photo to confirm that.
The oil did not stain the concrete despite being there for several days before being wiped up if that helps ID it. (I'm color blind so I can't tell you what color it is)

Can I buy such line from a roll at Napa or is this a preformed hose that needs be be purchased ready-made?
I assume if it is hydraulic, that Napa's Canda 50088 fuel hose would be a bad idea.

Photo attachment failed; (probably I'm too recent a member) but it including the screw-type clamp I attached in hopes of quelling the flow. I will try to find a site to host it.
    Thanks.

I'm almost positive you're talking about the power steering hoses. Mine are leaking too, I just bought my 4Runner a week ago. I've been told Carquest is a good cheap place to buy them from. You'll want to replace all of them.

You are right; I traced them this am and they go from the steering box to the PS reservoir (which says ATF type fluid on it btw).
Can I buy stock, straight hose and put the 90° bend in it by hand, or must one buy preformed hose?

Honestly not sure. Hopefully someone else can chime in. Apparently it's a common issue on GX470s and V8 4runners.

Ok I just ordered my replacement hoses after asking my mechanic friend what I needed.
    You'll need these:

    Rock Auto:
    REIN PSH0517 $23.89
    REIN PSH0516 $26.79

From a Toyota store (or online):
    44348-35250 $26.89 <-- pricey for a small hose

You might be able to replace just the hose but it won't have the correct curves.

I was able to replace the hose.
I was unable to retain all the P/S fluid.
The reservoir cap says Dexon ATF; sound about right?
And, I hope all that is needed is to fill/run/fill to bleed the system.

Oreilly's had a package of "p/s hose" about 2' long.
It makes a nice gentle curve without being pre-formed.
I will be watching it for kinking down the road.
It was bit of a struggle to get it past the swellings in the hardlines.
That, new hose clamps and a bottle of their "compatible with DexronII" ATF and all is well.
I started the engine and watched the level drop in the reservoir, filling it to the line - and then burped it by turning the wheel full L&R a few times, adding a bit more oil.
