Another option is a side exit exhaust. The 2020 Pro came with this from the factory. You can have your stock exhaust modified to exit out the side behind the rear tire rather than out the back. At first I really didn't like this look at all but it's grown on me over time.

 

Better departure angle if you're into off roading, too.

 

True however I would rather scrape a tail pipe and have a warning before I scrape the bumper!

Finally had the bumper covers painted......no more silver - had them done flat black to match the heritage grill.

The Sherpa is installed fit and finish is superb! Chose the silver crossbars instead of the black ones for less heat retention and it blends with the Toyota silver. No silicone needed for the mounts! 22 in-lbs is all you need to torque the mounts to. No need to crank it down like some trucks I've seen.

Finally got around to getting the new wheels and tires installed. I decided to go with the Toyo AT3s.

 

I added a few things to the 4R just prior to my trip to the New Mexico Discovery Route. Midland MXT275 GMRS radio, ARB Drawer system and wired my Baja Designs lights to my roof rack.

 

Road trip. The colors are in full swing. First 1000km achieved.

 

Beautiful, Im sold. What is the additional wiring running down the windshield? For a future lightbar?

That's easy: remove the mud flaps. They look ugly anyway.

 

Why does it matter when the 4Runner mud flaps don't have 4x4 on them?

 

My front mud flaps came off and rears were cut flush with the body within days of buying my 4R The old Tacoma also came with thin flaps that would, well, flap in the breeze. The 4R flaps are thick so if you do run them, they will not flap around and hit the tailpipe like the Tacoma flaps did. That's a lot of flapping............

 

lol yeah the 2015 did have stronger flaps. The early ones had what was basically just a flat piece of plastic and they would just fold back while going down the road. I personally hate the look of mud flaps so they had to go. The front were sold, rears I trimmed flush and put them back on. If they are removed, there is a big hole behind them so that wasn't an option for me.

 

Running boards came off right away also however you are absolutely right. I do have a number of rock chips on the bottoms of my doors which I touched up a couple days ago in prep for my fall detail. I guess the chips here and there are not bad enough for me to put flaps or steps on. They're so low on the door that if you're careful with touch up you can't see them anyway. I have the OEM touchup paint that comes with the tiny brush so it blends in really well. It is definitely a personal decision though.

Sadly no, someone put a damn pinstripe on it. Its on my list of things to do but just further down the list. And to be fair, it looks better than my signature
