I love my 4runner but I do not like any kind of alarm system. I hate key fobs, blinking lights, beeping horns and the rest of it. I prefer to just use a key.

Can anyone tell me where the alarm module is? I intend getting rid of the damned thing.

Theft? There are other, more subtle ways of preventing theft at which I am a past master.

Mine is a 95 with automatic. The alarm module is behind the brake pedal and up to the left a little. I want to get rid of mine too but it's my only daily driver so messing with the alarm might cause transportation issues I don't need now. If you find the right procedure for deleting the alarm... please let me know.

My son studied the issue and discovered the master alarm module is under the front seat (passenger I think). on it is a switch that enables or disables all alarms. He turned it off for me. No trouble since. The best part is that no modifications are necessary. Before I kept having a dead battery because I would not drive the car often enough and even with the key off the alarm system was energized resulting in a slow electrical drain.

I also have a super expensive nice new car. I don't worry about it being swiped because if I park if somewhere for more than an hour or so I remove the fuel pump controller. Without that the engine won't start period!!!! So then they have to use a fork lift if they want to steal it. This is one of many fun ways to twart idiot car thieves who their they're oh so smart. Good luck with your runner.

Nancyj88 . Thanks. Mine is a little different I guess.
Also....I don't worry much about simple car thieves as I've taken precautions outside the factory alarm too. I'm mostly concerned with more organized criminals like wrecker drivers!
    Good evening mama.
