Yeah, I watch Matt while I’m working out. Fun channel. The weather down there makes me envious, but maybe if I lived there I’d find it too hot. When I watch Matt, I’m reminded of the old saying, “this is being done by a professional, don’t try this at home yourself” haha.

That has to one of the best "reality" shows going! Those guys come up with some novel ideas that don't always work, but for some reason they never seem to cuss:hattip:

Probably looking at his gps. Distracted driving used to be your girlfriend, nowadays it’s your phone, I’m not sure that’s progress, but it’s definitely the younger generation! Lol

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
Here's a link to the video. I just finished watching it before I came on here lol. The 4Runner owner must be new to 4 wheeling. He could have had his buddy stand on the rear bumper get the back tire on the ground and probably driven out of there.

I thought the same. Why on earth would anyone drive into that gaping maw when there was a 30' flat and wide section right next to it?

    Pro-problems I reckon.

I wonder what he charges for that sort of thing. I mean, it took him 10 minutes... albeit probably 2 hours of drive time.

Pinstripes, lots of em. Plus a couple dents.
That's pretty much the only Youtube channel I follow these days and watch every episode.
Matt's just such a nice genuine guy. I totally want to drive out there for a visit sometime and buy a hat in person.

Looking at how the 4Runner was stuck, I bet the owner was worried about rolling it.
Nose downhill at an angle - that's real close to rolling over.

Good question! I wonder if he didn't see it, or was it just lack of experience?

I wonder if they tried the locker and/or crawl control?

I got stuck in some mud recently, and ended up having a buddy yank me out with a Bubba rope. It wasn't until a few days later when I thought of a few things I should have tried, including the locker.

I've been doing this stuff for two years now, but as soon as I got stuck, my lack of experience really showed. If I had been alone, I probably would have tried a lot harder to get out, though.

Has anybody used the Yankum ropes? If so what size (weight rating)? I imagine the Bubba rope is similar, again what size or weight rating?

The manufacturer should have recommendations based on your vehicle's GVWR.

    Here:

    https://www.bubbarope.com/frequently-asked-questions/

This might vary by manufacturer, as a rope that is too heavy will not stretch effectively with a lighter vehicle.

I’ve used ASR off-road rope before. Very nice and little cheaper than bubba rope.

I bought some Bubba Rope for that "just in case situation". Haven't had to use it yet but it sure looks good in the back of the outfit!!

    probably a few hundred.

I bet a TRD off road premium would have been able to handle that. Im always amazed at how capable those are.

All I can think is since the giant road to the left of where he wound up is on a slight decline, he simply misjudged where he was because he couldn't see it?....I hope. I wonder what they charge for something like that? They seem very busy wherever they are...

Yeah, mud is the Achilles heel of the traction control system, imho. It depends on at least one wheel finding traction at any given spilt second in time. Sometimes mud just overwhelms everything, and it’s just like grease everywhere. In a mud situation, if someone can share a lifeline, take it. Also, once you start spinning in mud, it’s hard on a vehicle. It gets everywhere in the deepest recesses of the underbody and becomes a trap for salt in the winter season where I live. It’s a big job pressure washing the underbody after a mud bath, so good to avoid, although, I get it, it’s a badge of pride for the young guys to have a totally mud spattered Jeep, lol.
