Brake job question (upgrading calipers, brake hose, pads, and rotors and have some extra parts...)

    Hi all!

2 quick (hopefully straightforward) questions, but context first:

I broke a lug nut bolt and since I have to take everything off anyways, I'm using it as an opportunity to upgrade my rear calipers to the 5th gen. I'm also replacing the rubber hose with a threaded stainless steel threaded one and replacing the rotors and brake pads.

    Question 1:
My new brake hose came with 4 brass crush washers. The rubber one I replaced doesn't have any of these. Should I use them or toss them? Right now, I put one where the hose bolts onto the caliper on each side. Now I'm wondering if these are going to misalign the holes in that bolt Here's a photo
    Question 2:
My next step is to flush the brake oil before installing the new calipers. Is there any reason not to just install the new brake pads BEFORE putting these new calipers on?

That's all I got. I'm new to the 4runner world and am super stoked to have found this community! Thanks in advance for any help!

All I get is this little box?!
When I installed my stainless lines I did the same, washer on each side of the banjo like in your photo. This will prevent leaks. As far as the pads, they can be in the caliper while bleeding, no problem.

Make sure when you're bleeding the rear to top off the fluid reservoir. The rears put out a lot of fluid. Don't let it get dry or you'll have air in the system, no good.

You are upgrading the REAR calipers with the newer ones? I believe it is only the front ones that are bigger/better than the 4th gen. And to use the 5th gen front calipers and rotors you need to have at least 17" wheels. I did mine last year and can't tell if they are a bit on the squishy or it is just all in my head...
