To uninstall the old tail lights, you have to remove some body panels and trim. Take the 5 screws out of the bottom panel near the end of the trunk and pop it up gently (be careful pins break easily). Then take the panel off that's on the roof surrounding the dome light in the rear, you have to remove the dome light fixture before doing so. Then remove the slots for the cargo cover (if you have them), I just popped the side panels out enough to gt my hands inside them. If its not going far enough out, there is a screw on the top of the panel that was under the dome light panel.
Here are some pictures after uninstalling.

To Remove the tail lights, there are 2 screws/10mm blots on the insides, then just gently hit the light with your palm to right if its the passenger light or left if its the driver. The pins will pop out and the light will be attached by the wires. To get the wires unplugged and out, you have to unplug the white plug that you can see in the below image, then unbolt the ground with a 10mm socket.

Here are the old tail lights, I didn't get a picture of the new ones before installing because UPS showed up at 8pm. You can clearly see the ground and the plug coming out of the taillights. Also don't worry about the rubber gasket, most taillights come with new ones so its completely sealed.

Here is the finished product, they came out great, love the new look way better. Sadly, I have run into a problem where the left light turns off when I brake so I'm currently trying to diagnose that. I have checked grounds and connections, I think it may be a wiring issue inside the light.

Nice looking lights. I've been looking at LEDs. Sorry to hear you're having issues with the left one. Did you re-check your ground on that side. Hopefully it's a nice easy fix for ya!!

    Good luck

Those sent even smoked, it's a black housing with clear lenses. Thanks Though! I loved the way they turned out.

Hey Flemster...did you ever get your lights working correctly?? Wanted to make sure it wasn't the lights themselves that were faulty.

@THatfield you should get a set of these...smoked out would really look good on your 4Runner! Maybe next spring we can get together and find somewhere close to play??

Yes, the plug inside the light for the brakes was put in upside down by the manufacturer so with some trial and error I figured it out and it works flawlessly!
