Hey all! Stoked to be here! Hope I can get a question answered or at least a bunch of opinions!! I want to find a roof basket that fits the entire roof and is rated for some actual weight!! I want to be able to stack the weight on it and be able to open my sunroof as well . I know I am probably asking to much but why‍♀️. Any help would be great! Thanks!!

The Prinsu rack seems pretty popular. The cross bars are adjustable so you can still use the sun roof.

I have a Baja Rack Standard size which allows me to open the Sun Roof because its a short rack. I have put a little weight on it but nothing substantial. I read early on that some people had the mounts put indentations in the roof because they loaded it down too much. I agree with John Murphy that the Prinsu style is probably the most popular and versatile. If you really want to load it down, you might want to think about a basket that attaches to the OEM rack, but then height clearance is an issue then. Lot's of brands and models to choose from these days. I posted several links below from this forum on the subject. Lot's of reading to do lol. Oh yea, Welcome!!

I have a Gobi and I love it. I have the stealth, but if you want something with taller sides to make it more of a basket style, look at the Gobi Ranger.

They make it with and without the sunroof cut out. If you get one with the sunroof cutout, they sell (separately) a section that will attach right in the cutout void so that you can stack stuff along the entire length of the roof. You can still open your sunroof with any of these options.

    From Gobi's website:
Driving load capacity of 300lbs. Static load capacity easily holds up to 800lbs. That's probably one of the largest load capacities you'll get.

Looks like the Gobi checks off all your box's. The downsides are that they are expensive ($1,600) and they take a very long time to arrive. Mine came in 4 months and 10 days from time of order. If you're going to order any accessories, make sure you do it at the same time you order the rack otherwise you'll be waiting on the accessories too.

Just giving you my experience, but like the others have said, there are many options out there!

I have a 3/4 size Front Runner and it’s great. You can order it in a basket configuration and it’s very versatile. Quiet too, which is important for me. Lots of accessories for it, and you can easily make some yourself if you like small projects. It’ll easily carry anything you can load up there.

I recently put the Rhino Rack Pioneer platform on mine and I absolutely love it so far. I have a hard shell roof top tent on top and haven't had any problems so far. We went up a jeep road this weekend with the rack/tent combo and everything worked great.

Nice! I'm super into the Rhino Pioneer rack, although I would want to get the full rail kit to have more of a "basket" set up. Do you know if that would still accommodate a rooftop tent?

I was looking into getting the rail kit as well! It looks like they only make them for the 1st and 2nd gen platform sizes though. I'm assuming that the rail kit would also hold an RTT, but I don't see a rail kit for the 5th gen platform size. I just went back on their site and it looks like they no longer have the 5th gen size rack?? Weird.

Thanks for the follow up, man! Unfortunately I did get an official response from Rhino, and it seems RTTs don't mix w/ the full rail set up. Oh well, when my Gobi arrives in 2 years I'm sure it'll look great, even if not super unique :)

Ah bummer! I guess that makes sense in terms of attachment points. Jeez, I've heard Gobi has some ridiculous lead times right now - good luck! I think those racks look sweet, so it'll be worth it when you get it :)
