I’ve always been a Japanese 4x4 guy starting with a gen 1 Mitsubishi Montero in 1983, had several Nissan Hard Bodies and Pathfinders, but am really digging this 4Runner.

I had it in the sand 6 hours after I bought it....seemed like the right thing to do.

Nissan doesn't make a decent pathfinder anymore and the xterra is gone.......so Toyota was a good choice.

Welcome!. I just joined the family about a year ago. Wife had 'yotas for years while I stubbornly drove Chevy SUV's. After many years, I finally paid attention to which brand I kept fixing vs which one simply needed maintenance.

Me too...I drove Fords and after an explorer that kept needing wheelbearings and drive train repairs, I had eneough. Hoping to not have any issues like that with the 4 runner.

I would have bought another Pathfinder, but I still wanted a “truck”... It was my wife who said, “get a 4runner, those are cool”. I said, yeah, since the Pathfinder (which is still great, but has transformed into a crossover) this is a great option. I love it. Solid and very useful.

Did you have trouble with Tahoes? Or was it another Chevy?

Blazer & Trailblazer. Engines were great. Transmission on the Blazer grenaded at around 90k though I think that was just bad luck. It was mainly components...after about three years, the alternators, AC,starters, water pumps etc died....headlight connectors burned out..stuff like that. I did keep one Blazer going almost 15 years but lots of $$$ and I stopped taking it on long trips after the first 7 or so, just didn't trust it. Meanwhile I had friends and family driving 4Runners from the prehistoric era that still had mostly original parts. We had two Sienna's and three Camry's over the years that made 8-12 years before we traded...zero repairs except for a door actuator and an AC relay on one Sienna.
