Why not look at Honda’s or Toyota cars? Just seems more logical for a daily

It looks clean. Some pictures of the underbody and interior would help.

One thing that happened to my 2003 somewhere around 200,000 or more miles was that the universal joint on the steering shaft seized up. The part was cheap, but it was a bitch to get the old one off.

I guess I would expect to have to replace the alternator, starter, battery Etc at some point.

Aside from those types of things, I'm not aware of any major issues with those 4runners.

Hey hey mate! So from what i'm seeing, https://www.vehiclehistory.com/vin-report/JTEBU14R638010707, it should have a V6, so you would have a timing chain instead of a belt. There is no need to change the chain unless it is making noise. The belts come only on the V8's.

Having had an 03 (V8) with 250K when i got rid of it, I can say that they are great, reliable vehicles, other than your normal maintenance items. With that mileage, the only thing you would have to watch out for is a worn transmission front pump seal, which you would notice with tiny drops of transmission fluid on the floor when parked overnight. Also, sometimes the V6 develops an oil leak from the timing cover gasket, as experienced with my 08 V6. Other than that, you should be ok. Keep on your maintenance, and it will last you another 200+k miles...

    Cheers,

    Sean
