    Hello all,

I am excited to say; I am new to this forum (first ever forum) and VERY excited to say that I just purchased a 1987 Gen 1 Toyota 4Runner here in Colorado. I have always admired the durability of Toyota's and loved the look of the 4Runner. So super stoked. Just trying to learn as much as i can about it and what I want to do it. Here is a few pics. Hope to use this forum to learn all I can and to get different ideas as well. Thanks!

Thanks! The previous owner took great care of it and did a lot to it. I am wanting to continue on making it better....starting small replacing the pillar emblems.

Thanks Sean. I am super excited to start to do things to it! I would like to see about a engine swap. I would like to see what is recommended. I am not going to use if for a "rock crawler" but i will use it for typical stuff, like take it in the mountains of Colorado, hunting, camping, some mild off road stuff. I see some pics of the 22RE performance engine.....stage 2?? Just wondering about that as a good replacement.

So Mike, to answer your question it has just under 300K miles. Any thoughts from you guys on a re-build engine or getting a more modern engine it it? I am sorry but I am trying to learn about things under the hood! So i would really appreciate feedback for a better engine or a re-build so that i can enjoy this for the next 10 years

Thanks Corbin! The ‘nerf bars’ are All-Pro rocksliders. They were the first piece of armor I added to my rig and I would highly recommend them for anyone considering venturing off-road. 62CA52DC-5830-465F-95A9-A7AC55ADF16B.jpg B8CD047E-6718-4B57-BCD7-27CABFE3CEFC.jpg The second piece was the Failgear rear bumper. The approach angle on these trucks is excellent, however the departure angle leaves a lot to be desired. As the saying goes, ‘cover your ass!’5FA03F69-FE3A-47C0-8C71-4064C835A380.jpg
