Sorry if you guys have discussed this already but I couldn't find a answer in the search. This 4Runner has less than a hundred miles on it. When the vehicle is on and you put your ear down by the driver side rear wheel well, you can hear what sounds like a slight ticking noise. Right by where the gas tank is. Sounds to me like the fuel pump running. Is that normal? All I can find is information about the fuel pump making noise after the vehicle turns off, which I understand is normal.

I’m guessing that’s the inverter doing it’s thing. It’s in the manual.

Inverter? Do you have to know the page of the manual that explains this? It's in front of me right now and I've been reading but nothing mentioned except for on page eight about the noise in the fuel pump after the vehicle is turned off.

Oops, wrong info, roots8848! My apologies. I think it must be the vapour recovery system doing its thing.

When I read the first part I thought it was talking about when the vehicle was running so I had my wife hang out the back window to see if she could hear any strange sounds at low speed, only about 30 mph.
She said there was too much wind noise and her hair kept getting stuck in the tire.
She doesn't want to do that again so I can't help....

Let's not diminish the ownership experience of a new truck with incessant worry about noises.
