Loud squealing noise when accelerating HELP

After going mudding and doing some decent off-roading I hopped back on the pavement only to hear that every time it accelerate I hear a squealing noise. It started out not so bad then got a little worse until I pulled over and washed behind the wheels and the brake pad. It seems to be coming from the front drivers side wheel. After washing it, it went back to being not as bad, but is still squealing when I accelerate. Any idea what is wrong guys?

 

If its coming from ur wheel, I would suspect a bearing. To me it sounds like belts...?

 

How would I fix it if it's the belts, I'm not to under the hood savy

 

Whenever I had squealing belts it was usually due to them being loose. Do a thorough inspection and cleaning. Does the sound go away at speed? Is it constant? Does it squeal if ur parked and just revving the motor?

 

The only time it does it is if I press on the gas. When I let go it stops. It doesn't do it when I rev the engine or anything else

 

If it doesn't squeal when ur stopped that would eliminate the belts. It's only when ur in motion correct? Sounds like a bearing. But without actually hearing it, I can only guess. Did u pull the rim off and check?

 

Haven't pulled the wheel off yet, but will in a hour or two when I take it to my friends. But yeah only happens when accelerating. It's freaking me out. Thanks for the input man

Checked my stuff. Me and my friend didn't find anything unusual expect of a groov in the brake pad. We spun the wheel when we jacked up the truck and didn't make any unusual sands expect for the rotor scraping against the rims which was minor. It wasn't the sound I've been hearing while driving. The sound has now progressed to being a squeal noise as well as a tad vibration. Friend told me the good news was he didn't find anything wrong so it probably was serious, but I don't want to be driving with that awful noise. Any more ideas?

 

I'm guessing you have mud dirty in a belt or something. I just did the same thing. I had a rock in my dust guard. Actually three of them. Take a look at all the belts, pulley's etc.

I'm sure something had dirt or mud in it. The good thing is this. Once it break you will know what it is for sure.

Would washing under the good/ the belts get rid of the problem?

 

Possibly But,

You need to really look and see what is dirty and not power wash the electronics. Know what I mean. I would look at the AC Belt because it sits low. Also look at the harmonic balance and see if there is dirt and mud in there. I might even try some silicone on the belts and see if that helps at all. Just a little though.

Could be the bearings that the AC belt tensioner rolls on.

If it is the bearing, it is a press in style. Go to a motorcycle shop and get a new one, should be $6-7.

 

I have the same problem after trail rides. I realized it was just the kids though. ;-)

 

I would be almost certain it is a belt. I also would NOT! spray anything on them. Just make sure the are tight, ( but not over tight ) and I'll bet the noise goes away. Sounds like a typical loose belt issue.

 

I had the exact same thing happen for the first time last winter. I was coming from the farm (gravel) just left it was freezing. I hear a loud sqeeking like the drivers side caliper was locking up but it wasn’t braking or dragging. Stepped on the brakes a bunch to free it up didn’t go away until a few miles up the road it just went away on its own.
