I'm looking to add a roof rack to my 5th gen 4runner. I leaning towards a full rack. Looking for opinions and recommendations.

Do you want a basket style rack or a flat rack?

really can’t go wrong with any of the main builders. Souther style, Baja, prinsu, front runner. Just depends what you’re looking for

My name is Tory did a great write up on his Echotechne... very detailed and the look is distinctive.
The best question: what is the budget?
By the time you add hardware and powder coat get ready to pull up your socks

My echo is at the powder coater now... I’ll update the pic when it’s installed.
Function is everything Toyota forgot when they built a rack

I just googled to see what it looked like. I think that might be a professional screw up. I guess I’ll have to look for one to really see and maybe gain some understanding of what they were thinking.

Thinking a flat rack but not set on that idea yet.

Budget is about a grand but can be upped if needed.

    Thanks!

I went with the Baja Full roof rack basket. I love mine it was pretty easy to install. I say you need two ppl but that's just me.
They have 15% off now and it took a week to get. Other racks were backed up over a month.

I saw a victory rack in person for the first time the other day and I really liked it, it looked really slick.

I just got my Gobi delivered. It's a really nice rack and checks all the specific box's I have, but the price and lead time (4months and 10 days for me) are a real turn off for most

If I was buying a flat rack right now, I'd be getting a Southern Style Offroad. They look really nice and they have plenty of great reviews, like Agent Outside's above. Check those out.

If you can't decide between a flat rack or a basket rack, the no rise Gobi is the perfect compromise because it can be used as both. The downside is the wait time, but they're popular for a reason. People who have them really like them. Those are worth a look as well.

In addition, the Gobi comes with two cross bars. A guy down the block from me has his RTT on the Gobi, utilizing the cross bars for support in the middle.

Gobi is a popular option but personally I’d never own one. It’s steel which means it will rust as you use it and beat up the powder coat and it’s heavy, but more importantly I don’t like the company. I think their customer service is shit, I think they take their customers for granted because they have a popular product, and I don’t like that any small business that pops up building their own racks that appear similar in style Gobi sues them and ties them up in a legal battle until they can’t afford to fight back anymore.

I haven’t heard anyone mention C4 fabrication, I’m looking at them for a ladder but I really liked the roof rack.
Does anyone have any experience with their products?

If I had seen them I may have gone a different direction-

I was actually going to go with Gobi and I felt like their Instagram posts were misleading. I spoke with costumer service and basically he admitted it so their free this and that ended up being a backpack. So I went with Baja and I got it within a week. Customer service was great. I did not like the fact I had to pay for shipping but it’s a good rack.

I checked out Gobi, but the turn around time is so long. That is why I have tried to look other directions

    Posting for a friend.

Here are pics of a badazz TRD Pro roof rack on m....I mean his rig. He said he would trade it for a Gobi stealth rack and I’d also add cash on top to even out the trade deal. He’s located in NorCal, Solano County. Anyone interested, PM me.
