    Hi all:

    Just joined. My wife just picked up a 2000 4Runner. Next step (literally) is to find running boards for it.

    Very nice!! Victory 4x4 and some of the venders on here have them. I suggest looking at them....

    I was really amazed at how well they protect the SUV. My boss backed a loaded trailer into mine and it saved the side of the truck....

    If you're going to off road, there's a different type of running board called rock sliders, or just sliders for short. Investigate them. They cost a lot more, but are actual armor, where normal running boards are just for stepping on and can't hold the weight of the vehicle.

    If you're not offroading, save the money, buy the running boards.
