Welcome "Girl". Many of us are also previous Toyota owners. I've had 5 P/U's, 3 L/C's and a '98 4R Limited (275k miles) that was traded in for a '10 Rav4.
I would hope to think that if a wealthy person is the original owner, they are more than likely to have all the required service and maintenance done for them.
If that is the case, it sounds like a solid purchase. Our '16 4R is nearing 74k miles and we tend to keep our Toyotas well into the 200k range.
And when travel restrictions ease up, I will resume making trips to So. Cal. with a cargo trailer in tow.
Gas milage be damned, or aka, suckitup.

Timing belt? You mean timing chain? At that mileage it should be fine and probably doesn’t need to be replaced.

sure I mean the chain and I know a chain last longer than a belt and since the 1GR-FE is a bit older the chain is probably biffy and more durable. But since I’m rather safe than sorry I would at least have a deep check on it, how are the gliders, any chain extension etc., but I have to admit that I don’t know whats manufacturer recommendations.

I’d be more concerned on the condition of the serpentine belt and water pump than the timing chain. But there’s absolutely nothing wrong with getting everything checked out.

the Limited got a few things that I like but as well things I don’t like!
Interior color for example, there is variety. The off road premium just come in black pleather, the ac got auto and If I remember correctly there were a few other goodies I liked about the limited. What I don’t like is permanent 4wheel drive, the different body parts and the big rims - all that limits the off road capability BUT don’t get the idea that the limited is useless off road, that’s definitely not the case.

You’re right about the serpentine belt but a broken one is just inconvenient trouble, a broken timing chain means most likely head salad!
My bad about not mentioned the water pump but in my mind that’s obvious since in most cases it doesn’t add much work when the timing belt/chain get replaced.
BTW: does anyone know the specific due time for the timing chain on a 1GE-FR?

According to this thread, someone mentions that the timing chain is designed to last the life of the engine. I couldn’t find anything in the owners manual for the maintenance intervals. Probably best to ask a Toyota service advisor to get definite answers.

I did ask back when I was purchasing my beauty and I remember that it was at a number that squeak a wow out of my mouth but I don’t remember exactly!
But I don’t believe in the lifetime bs that manufacturers gave out - because lifetime means the time it’s designed for, not the time it could actually run well

They also say with the sealed transmission we have that the fluid does not need to be changed and stays in there for the life of the transmission. I don’t believe that BS either so I did a drain and refill with genuine Toyota fluid and also replaced all the plug gaskets. Shifts smoother after that was done.

As for the timing chain, I’m not too worried about it. I’ll be more concerned when I reach the 300K mile mark.
