I like camping/over-landing (not rock crawling) took my gen 1 i had on a 4k mile trip into baja mexico for 9 days.. lived in the back

 

All parts are on order... gonna be fully built in about 3 months (gobi, kings, bumpers, swing)

If you're adventurous, you could paint instead of dip the wheels. More color options.

I rattle canned a few sets and liked how they turned out.
Current set is oil rubbed bronze metallic with dark gray metallic outer ring.
But, you can really only tell it's bronze when they are clean and in bright sun.

 

If you decide to paint, I gotta say, Ricks PowderCoat was a good experience with a fair price.

 

Nice! I'd like to eventually get some new wheels and powdercoat them, but for now I'll just polish my existing turds haha

Not much progress on anything new in my world... been pretty busy with work the last month. Hope to get some stuff done (bought) in the next months... winch/bumper might come before the rear bumper/tire swing.

I have never been there, and wouldn't mind seeing what that's all about. Looking forward to some trips when this all dies down.

 

@mem4runner Hey btw, that wire with the plug on the bottom of your 4Runner near the transfer case I took a picture of when you were over here...I asked the guys and they suspect it's a for Electronic 4WD actuator on a limited. It's possible that isn't the original gearbox and that was just not needed on your model of 4Runner. They seem to believe it's not used.

Anyways, just a guess, but it's likely not a big deal.

 

Does anyone have the lug nut tool to remove the factory wheel lock?

 

There weren't factory wheel locks, so it was likely a dealer installed add on. If you are still near where the dealer was, you can take it to them and they have a series of keys that have all the combinations, they might help you out.

It's most likely a Gorilla brand locking lug. Most parts departments in Toyota dealerships have the master keys.

 

Tell me about the ozarks.
I've only been out to AR for fishing on the White and Little Red rivers. Never checked out trails really other than 45 minutes of gravel road to get to a fishing spot. And only seen Missouri from hwy on route to St Lois.

It's incredible, so are the Ouachitas and the Buffalo River too. Haven't REALLY wheeled, but I've spent a lot of nights out there backpacking and camping.

Sleeper/cargo mod complete! My girlfriend and I knocked it out over the weekend - really excited to have this one checked off the list. Just need to put a longer hinge on that right side and should be all set.

Any shops around here or know of anyone around here who could CNC an aluminum plate to my specs for a reasonable price? Looking to make a wiring tray for the 4Runner like a powerplate in the engine bay.
