So you want what type of tire or what wheel size? You’re asking to different questions here. 17x9 will require a BMC, and some trimming. And as far as tire goes, research. I have the Nitto ridge grapplers and love them. I had the KO2’s before and I’m liking the nittos a lot more.
Don’t forget to add UCA’s to that setup, especially if you’re going with a. 17x9. You will not get proper alignment, and rub like crazy with stock UCA’s.

what is your setup? pics? currently have stock UCA but will be going to TC soon. I only want to do this once.. what cutting would be needed with the 9 inch?? a lot of the front fender cutting would already be done since ill have a full shrockwork off-road bumper right? I have found a ton of data on the 17x8.5 with 285/70/17 setup.. but not much on the 9inch wide setup.

I have a 3/2 setup right now so I’m level front to back, thinking of going 3” in the rear to get some rake though. If you’re doing a full bumper in the front yes I that would mean that you shouldn’t have any rubbing as your fender liner would be done in the lower half and the aftermarket bumper will open up that portion where the stock bumper would be.
I got a pretty big BMC done, but I also have 295’s on a 17x9 wheel. On 285’s you wouldn’t need as big of a BMC. You might or might not have to hammer the pinch weld, I’ve been lucky and haven’t had to. I haven’t had any rubbing on mine with what I’ve done. As long as you get a BMC and UCA’s you should be good to go for the 17x9.

thanks for the info... would I still need the BMC if I just stuck with the common 17 x 8.5 and 285 tire?

No problem, and you might or might not. It’s really a hit or miss it seems like, but that’s a still decently wide wheel so I’m going to say you more than likely will.

Don't forget about offset. Offset is just as important as width.

Yes, that’s why I went with 295’s. I figured might as well make it a big cut and just go with a 17x9 wheel. And my wheels are also -38mm in offset just to give you an idea of what that looks like. You’re doing everything right to where you can just go with a wide wheel, so personally I’d say do it:notsure: make it how you want it. Full send it instead of wishing you would’ve done something different later on and spending more money on something that can be fine now:spending:

For a 9" wheel you'll need at least that. Be careful not to get too exotic here. Excessive negative offset increases your scrub radius (making the wheel rub on the outside edge) and just stresses your spindles and bearings unnecessarily.
