I'm looking for a Cat back exhaust system for my wife's 2020 4runner. Anyone on here use the FLOWMASTER FLOWFX CAT-BACK system?

Are there other options people recommend?

    Thanks
    Bv

People tend to like what they spent thier money on.
I had the trd exhaust and was ok. A guy at work had Gibson and threw his out and bought the trd after he heard mine.
Others like the magnaflow setup from what I read

I’m just wondering if the cat back piping really gives any improvement on clearance, or size, and if it would be best to leave it as is, and cut the muffler off and weld in the one of your choice?

You said you HAD the trd exhaust.

Did you get rid of it? If so, why?

The Trd exhaust has a second pipe, something to do with bypass??? Supposed to get rid of drone
Installed it on my 19/ traded for a 20 pro and didn't save the stock. My ex took off with the 20 pro and now I've got a stock orp. When this Covid thing passes I'll probably keep the stock only rework the tail to exit the side. It about eliminates exhaust smell when back window is down.
The Trd exhaust is nice sounding except if your going uphill. Then the drone sounds like crap.

Put an MBRP on and hated it, swapped to a Magnaflow muffler and still to loud and droned . Now I have a 50 series SUV Flowmaster in place and it is much better. If I were to do it all over again I would stay stock.

It's funny because folks love "that sound" of a performance exhaust. I'm on the other side of the fence. The quieter the better. IMO, only thing to make louder is a V8! Apologies in advance for the non-helpful answer. Helpful answer provided earlier.

Dirty Deeds Industries makes a zero drone performance exhaust called the BA Muffler for the Toyota Tundra. The guys on the Tundra forums say its one of the best dual exhaust set ups with zero drone that you can buy for the truck. A step up from the Tundra TRD exhaust. I had a BA Muffler on my Tundra. Super quiet on highway speeds but had that throaty sound when you needed it. Loved it.

Dirty Deeds should make one for the 4Runner. I think I’ll send them a message.

Keep the stock cat back and swap the Y-pipe. Or not, its up to you.

Good point. The factory Y-pipe is a huge bottleneck.

Don’t have any experience with it but I think autoanything.com is having a sale on Gibson exhaust.

Ok so I got a response from Keith from Dirty Deeds Industries. He said they have a BA Muffler performance exhaust for the 5th gen and also other gens but it looks like its not on their website. He has a resonator built in that kills the drone like no other exhaust. If I didn’t already have a TRD exhaust installed I probably would have went with a Dirty Deeds BA Muffler. For those who are interested, contact Keith at the number below.

URD Mark3 Exhaust is the best I've heard IMO. Not too aggressive with regular driving, but is noticeable when you step on it. I've been in the cab of a 5th gen that had the flowmaster, gibson, and MBRP exhaust installed, and disliked all of them.

Only downside is the exhaust doesn't fit with a spare that is anything besides stock size, so if you have a 275 or 285 spare it won't fit.

I installed the Flowmaster FlowFX 717805 cat back exhaust system on my 2017 4runner, SR5 4WD. I accidentally found an article that Flowmaster released this in April, I think, then pulled the trigger on it last week.

I used some of Trail4runner.com install vids from other exhaust systems since nothing was available for the FM install.

Remove Spare tire and heat shield near spare tire.
Two bolts at tailpipe flange, DO NOT TRY TO BREAK LOOSE THE NUTS WELDED TO THE FLANGE, like I stupidly tried lol.
Two spring bolts on inlet falnge.
Remove from Hangers, snake tail pipe through

Install was super easy and fast.
Anti-seize lube spring bolts and 3 clamps.
    use factory rubber hangers
    line up, tighten down.
Great deep sound, will do CAI next.

Any ideas on what to do whith the stock exhaust I removed? Sell, donate, recycle?
