I started a thread in the search for bigger and better brakes. There didn't seem to be a reasonable option so I opted to go for an improvement to the stock rotors and pads. I don't know yet if these parts are the answer, but time will tell and then I'll report back here with updates. Hopefully this helps someone with the decision and ordering process.

I am betting that like on other vehicle applications that these slotted and cross drilled rotors will provide better braking when it's needed most such as a fast stop on the HWY under a heavy load. I'm also hoping that they are a little more firm on the trail. I ordered the parts from 4Wheel Parts. See pictures below to include the parts on the packing list.

I need to go for a proper trial run, but at this moment I am also installing a hidden winch and modifying everything behind the front seats to accommodate all of our travelling gear. I'll update the thread with my braking experiences as soon as I can take it for a spin.

I had the Power Stops on my Tundra. Had a judder break in period at first but was a worthy upgrade.
Looking to also get the Z36 kit for my 4Runner. How was the break in period?

Here is the YT video in case you have not seen it..

I only drove about a mile up and downhill slowly and then back to the shop. Do you know the proper break-in procedure for these?

Ouch! You must have received a kit from a bad batch or something. My parts looked really good. In fact, I was impressed with the quality and I am always on the search for quality parts. I do have to say though that the retainer clips for the front calipers were incorrectly shaped at the factory so I reused the original hardware including the retainer pins. I just cleaned the pins with a wire wheel prior to install. The rear clips fitted just as the originals did, so I used the new ones in the rear.

    Thanks for the info!

Yes, same here when I bought a PowerStop brake kit for my Tundra. I did a thorough inspection before I decided to do the install. I did not see any quality control issues. It’s too bad you had to return them. Would liked to see your review on actual mileage on them. I’m on the fence with going with the Z36 kit or completely all OEM components for my 4Runner. For the most part I usually stick with all OEM components including fluids and lubrication. I do like the value as well as the overall appearance of the Z36 kit. If it out performs the OEM system then I will highly consider them.

Too many mods and too much money
Drilled and slotted rotors are a great option for towing or loaded down hwy trips. But if you go off road then not so much. The slots and holes fill up with mud and dust and retain heat, which defeats the purpose of having the drilled and slotted rotors. I use the Z36 pads with the OEM replacement rotors (non drilled and slotted), and have had good results.

Running that set up front & rear on my SR5P. Im happy with them and when the wifes Tundra is ready it'll get the same.
