Hatch key?

    Can anyone tell me if the keyhole on the rear hatch was linked in any way to the rear window?

    Does anyone have a rear hatch where by turning the key to the right you make the hatch glass go up and turn it to the left to make it go down.

    Or am I just reminiscing about an old ass station wagon that mom and dad had when I was a younger kid? Maybe a flashback?

    My '94 and my '03 both did that. I don't know if I've ever tried it on the new one! Now I have to go check:D

    Is the hatch keyhole on yours not working properly?

    I'd imagine that a dealership would be your best bet, but it will probably be expensive.

    Agreed. It should roll up and down with your factory FOB. I have an aftermarket alarm in mine and can use my FOB but I'm pretty sure the factory FOBS do it too.

    yeah it's like the lock is all froze up inside cuz the key doesn't even go all the way in so I was thinking of lubing that keyhole up so that maybe that loosens up I don't know but the key doesn't even go all the way in. I don't have a fob guys, just a key.

    Try shooting some WD40 or PB blaster in there. Stick the key in there and try to turn it back and forth, GENTLY. It might just loosen up and start working. I'm not sure if the key is supposed to go in all the way.

    Also...if you get it to turn...remember it is still controlled by the lockout on the driver's door control panel. So make sure the lockout is off and that the center dash control buttons work the window. If those work then it should work with the key.

    On mine it does not. It goes in as much as the front door locks.

    Rear Hatch cylinder wrong for the car?

    My rig has had its rear hatch replaced due to a kid on a cell phone.

    The locks in the doors/hatch get used so rarely with a key that I almost forgot to test the lock with my key when I got the car back. I could see someone totally forgetting and just not worrying about it.

    Ok so I totally agree with you on that. I get it that I will probably never use it, but with all this time on my hands I'm trying to fix and detail every little nook and cranny.

    Oh, it would drive me bananas.

    Unfortunately, you can't get the entire lock set anymore for the car (ignition, doors, hatch, glove box). You can get the ignition.

    Not sure if the cyclinder internals can be changed by a locksmith. I know on my old Ford, I can crack open the glove box cylinder and re-key it with the correct teeth.

    Other alternative is find a low(er) mileage junk yard car and snag the whole set.

    I'm pretty sure my ignition cylinder will need to get changed as it is getting sloppy. Then I'll have 2 keys for the car. It's really better that way anyway as you can give a key to someone to get access but not start the car. It's the way all cars used to be.

    I remember those days man. I was thinking about putting a push button ignition in mine! I am also changing all my lights to LED. I'm also going to be changing the extra power ports to a voltmeter and USB plugs plus a switch to operate some little accent lights it's going to look bitchin'!! I'm adding a new distribution block in the engine bay for some extra electrical needs that will be coming soon. I'm putting in an Alpine flip face touchscreen, GPS, Bluetooth, new speakers and a nice amp and a little sub box. Basically bringing the truck into this century! Do you have any recommendations for the door speakers? I'm looking for the best that I can fit in the doors but may consider some type of extra spacer if it's an easy install. Plus my truck has those little tweeters up in the front doors.
