Just bought the kit today and I’m super excited. Any idea what install prices could look like? Think Toyota would do it?

Do it yourself. All you need is some jack stands and spring compressors. Its easy enough.

Do I need to compress the springs in the rear? My front shocks and springs came assembled. What about an alignment afterwards?

Yes to an alignment afterwards. You will probably need upper control arms to achieve proper alignment. From what I’ve picked up, anything above 2.5” is a 50/50 shot, and anything at or close to 3” is a yes you will need upper control arms. Also, you may need a front diff drop. I imagine you’ll have pretty bad CV angles at a full 3”.

Comes with diff drop kit. I’ve ran into the UCA thing a bunch in my studies and they aren’t needed with this kit. I’m giving in and letting an off-road shop do the install today. I’m a drill sergeant and rarely have any time off to do it myself. It’s a bitter pill to swallow but it is what it is.

Just got off the phone with the shop. Setting up the appointment I told him I needed an old man emu suspension lift installed. I also told him the front shocks and springs were pre assembled. For whatever reason he thought the rear would be lifted with spacers instead of the shocks and springs the kit comes with. He’s saying the price he quoted might increase due to the misunderstanding. Is this something a reputable shop wouldn’t know? Would more labor be involved to install shocks vs. spacers? Does this sound reasonable?

I dunno something sounds fishy with that shop. Rear coils vs rear spacers shouldn't increase/decrease the price. You literally just lift the 4Runner and slide out/in the old and new stuff. The rear shocks are even easier.

Honestly with a jack, jackstands, and a small mechanic's tool set you should be good to go. I did mine in my driveway in an afternoon with no instructions. It's pretty damn easy, especially with the front coilovers already assembled.

With my limited knowledge I argued that same point. All in all I didn’t pay any more than quoted. She looks fantastic with the extra height.

I agree that this is something I could’ve tackled. The army base im at even has a diy garage with all the needed tools. If I’m being honest, I paid because I’m inpatient. My hours were already ridiculous but are more so now due to rolling WuFlu quarantines of our cadre. I won’t have another day off until May, to include weekends.

    Alexander,
Thank you so much for your service to our country, I pray God keeps you safe and bless’ you mightily.
    You are a great American!

The ride looks great, keep us updated on future mods. I am really hoping the OME works well, can you keep me updated on the first off road trip, I own an “18” off road and am considering either a Fox or OME lift for mine, still doing my research.
