I am in the market for a new 4 runner and I came across a 2016 4runner tdr pro with 99,987 miles on it for right around 30k. I've never owned a 4runnner or Toyota so interested if this is a deal or if it is something to pass on. What should I be looking for other than the usual maintenance that can be found on car fax. It has one owner and no reported damage.

Also generally when are the big repairs for Toyota vehicles such as transmissions and other large fixes?

    Thanks

Is said Pro a special color you have to have?
If not, skip that Pro and keep looking for something with lower miles.
I have a Pro and do not think its worth the extra $$...again unless it's special Pro color you really want.

100k isn’t anything and no major maintenance outside of a transmission fluid change is recommended.
That said, for 30k, you could probably find a low mileage trail premium

Post some pics. If it's your first Toyota youll love it. Never went back after my first Toyota. It should have alot of life left, but would make sure maintenance has been done on it and if not, get to changing all the fluids and oils, checking brake components, etc.

It is the beige color from 2016. Attached is the picture. So I guess other then the bells and whistles are there any real pros coming out of getting the TDR Pro trim?

nice truck with nice aftermarket parts. The pro gets you that color and skid plates is about most notable stuff I can think of. If you can get them to budge on the price I wouldn’t hesitate to buy it. I bet previous owner took care of it

That right there is a the best Pro color IMO.
I'd say it a pretty good deal with the extras if it hasn't been beat up.

That would sell quick at asking price in the Northern California area.

Looks like its located in Minnesota, so definitely check for rust.

Probably my favorite color. I almost bought one that color used. The dealer almost wanted the same price as a new one. So I put a deposit on a cement which was the new color at the time. Than I went against the pro thing all together and ended getting a sr5 with a third row. Figured with a growing family it would be more useful to have the third row. And the money saved I could spend to modify it. 100k is nothing for a 4Runner. As long as all the maintenance was done. It will probably go another 100k easy.

I know this is a pro with a bunch of parts but I just got a 2019 SR5 with 18k miles on it for 33.5 out the door.

Personally I'd pass. 100K miles and 4 years old and they're asking $30K.
If you can do without a TRD Pro, you can buy a brand new TRD ORP for just a few K more and it'll have about 100K fewer miles of wear and tear.
In today's auto market (3 years of declining sales volumes) and with this global pandemic, I think you could do real well on a new 2019 or 2020 Pro if you had to have a Pro.

Agreed, just got mine for 7K more without any miles. Granted it is a TRD Offroad but you can make it like a pro for very little $. That is my favorite color on the 4R but color isn't worth it IMO. Its up to you and what you will be happy with though.

Quicksand is the only color I wanted and one popped up for sale in my area and I bought it. With several other people in line.

Ended up finding a 2019 TRD Off Road with 23K Miles and went with that instead. I have a warn winch from the Jeep Wrangler I used to own so taking suggestions if anyone knows of any cool front winch bumpers out there.
