Hey guys, I'm currently in the market for a 4Runner and came across this one for $18,995
Car fax looks good with exception of 2019 when the information becomes more generic.
I'm not new to Toyota, infact I just sold my 100 Series cruiser with 245K and prior that I had a built 2010 Tacoma. I am new to 4Runners though hence my post here.

What would be the consensus on a vehicle like this?

that seems like a lot of miles for a 2016

That's what I thought too, but looking at the carfax I noticed the person averaged about 30k per year with oil and serviced at dealer every 5K so I'm thinking sales and probably mostly highway miles. Is that better than stop and go daily driving miles? My needs are completely different, I average under 10k per year driving due to living and working in the same town. Most of the vehicles that have been in my price range have been in the 80K and up range. It looks to be clean and taken care of, but since any vehicle I'm looking at has miles on the higher side I'm really thinking about the longevity of the 5th Gen 4Runner in general.

Yeah it’s all about maintenance and what it had. That mileage is nothing for a 4 Runner if it’s been maintained, IMHO

depends on a lot of things like maintenance, if its been kept up with then i wouldn't be opposed to it. I would think highway miles are less taxing than stop and go all the time, so i'm with you there. IF nothing else the mileage might give you something to bargain with on the price. GL

I must have missed it in the listing but it doesn’t say 4WD so I’m assuming its 2WD?

If it is, I would definitely pass.

Edit: ok after going through the pictures I did see the 4WD selector knob. Then at that price, it seems like an OK deal.

It's 4WD. If you look at the interior shots you can see the 4WD selector knob.

Thanks for all the feedback so far, this is just one of a few 4runners I'm going to look at this weekend but having some reassurance on the mileage has been very helpful. keep the comments coming especially in the form of maintenance to be on the lookout for. All feedback is much appreciated!

    Totally fine.
    I sold a 2000 with 240k miles a while ago and recently got a 2015 with 130k on it.

I'd be more concerned with the condition of the frame after 5 years of winters in MA than the mileage.

That is a hefty amount of miles for a '16 in my opinion but it is what it is... I bought from Boch and their typically pretty good with moving from the sticker price at least they are on new. Try offering a few thousand less all they can do is say no.

Kelly bb says 18700 for a trade, seems like a fair dealer asking price. I would still chisel them down, they probably gave the seller 10k?

Usually high miles in short time is good, since it the cold crank and the warm up phase that worn engines out and I doubt this one got a lot of those.
I also doubt that you can bring the price way down but it’s always worth a try.

That's actually part of my problem in my search because a 3rd is the top priority. Between my girlfriend and I we have 5 kids so seating just won't cut it in the off-road since they don't offer them with a 3rd row. I've been considering a limited, but honestly like the look of the SR5's better, although the creature comforts would be great!! Also been looking for premiums but those are even harder to find. There is one in NH about 70mi away and if this one is a rust bucket, I'll be heading up to see that one next. Down side is it 5k more.

I know its a large jump in cost but if your gonna go near 23 k, you can snag a new one for a hundred more per month? This one list is 33, peeps are getting 10 to 12% off right now would bring it to 70 more a month. that's a visit to Micky D's for GF & 5 kids?

The other popular Toyota product are the Lexus 460 / 470 which are based on the Prado and Land Cruiser. Both come with V8 engines. These are becoming popular with the off road overland crowd:

    https://www.trucks.com/2019/07/09/rise-lexus-gx-off-roader/

For 18 - 20k you could get 2 of them.

    Land Cruiser for you:

    Prado for the wife:

Lift kits, winch bumpers, and sliders are available as seen on this one:

Haha, I've thought about that while going through the process of prepping my cruiser for sale. We already have one LX460 in the driveway, and we love it! I started looking at 2012 LX460's but I love the look of the TR4. Believe me I've gone back and forth many times! As I've mentioned before, I've got some time and I'm still trying to do my due diligence and get to know more information about 4runners.
I don't have high hopes for this higher milage runner, but it's still worth checking out just because of the price.

I personally like the look of the 4R better than the Lexus'. Watching hours and hours of 4Runner videos on youtube sold me on it.
I didn't know about the Lexus Land Cruisers till after buying my 4R. No regrets though.

So I took a chance on it after going and having a careful look at it. They threw it up on the lift for me and I got to take a good hard look at everything from the bottom up! I was pretty impressed to say the least. The underside I expected to be full of rust had about the same amount as my 20 year old cruiser that had lived its life in the south, basically next to nothing! It drove great, and aside from a few wear and tear cosmetic issues it looked ready for a new owner. That said I left the dealership to go and check out another Mag gray one a few towns over. This one had 93K on the clock and also had the third row but from what I could see after laying on the ground and checking things out it was actually not in as good of condition as the last one. This vehicle rode identical to the blue one and for almost 3.5k less, the higher mile vehicle seemed to be the better vehicle/buy....added bonus was that it also came with dealer installed heated seats. In all I test drove 3 different SR5's with 3rd row which was my must have because (5) kids. I do wish I could have found a limited or a premium with a third row to test drive for comparison sake but the closest was almost 2 hours away.
So here she is in her new home... patiently waiting for mod parts to arrive to bejewel her and hanging with her sister Lexi!
